I love walking but not during the winter. The weather has been relatively mild in NY and NJ so I've been able to do lots of walking with my dog. I purchased a Fitbit Ultra 3 weeks ago and it really has motivated me to increase my activity. I'm a sucker for the badges. I've lost 4 lbs in 3 weeks and I'm hoping to lose a lot more by summer.

Last night I tried a kinect game called UFC personal trainer. I bought this because I really like to box and kickbox. My arms are so sore right now! But I love smacking that virtual heavy bag around. My other workouts have made my lower torso strong. But this workout is awesome for my arms. My biceps never get sore. But they are sore now. I love the endorphins I get from working out. It took me awhile to get in the groove, but I think I am ready to commit to exercising. I might not be losing weight right now, but I am definitely getting toned. And I am getting stronger everyday.

Enjoy the journey, it's never to late to start.

I just restarted today! 2 miles in 40 min. Not great in fitness standards but a beginnning for me and my poor aching legs and feet are proud of me!

I've been overweight for a good many years now and I suppose I've had depression issues as well. Food has been my constant companion but it lets me down when I look in the mirror and reality sets in. I'm trying to break out now and it's about time, I'm 64. But I guess it is never too late...

Hi Susan,
I'm Liz. I started walking and exercising to beat depression too. I lost a son in 2003, and in 2008 I decided to break out of mourning and depression. I lost 50 lbs. I have gained 13 of it back. I feel so much better mentally and physically. I was up to walking/running 3-4 miles every other day. Today, I am doing a lot,of exercise dvd's like,Jillian Michaels and Cathe Friedrich. I am using my 360 XBox too. I am ramping up my activity level, because the holidays are coming, and, I don't want to gain anymore weight. I hope you have good luck with your fitness challenge.

P.S. I do plan on walking in the AM. I just bought a fluorescent yellow hoodie to get me in the mood!

Hi,

There was a time that I love to walk but then obesity and depression locked arms and seemed to keep me held to the ground. That all changed when I joined Spark and slowly I came to fully embrace walking and the sense of peace it brought with it. It helped that at the time I was relatively healthy and had two energetic rescue dogs always by my side.

Now, we are up to three dogs emoticon and my health sort of took a nose dive. The long and short of it is they need to take them walking as much as I need the walk.

I just joined the 10 minute fitness challenge too to get motivated to walk just 10 minutes everyday.
