I don't know how it would work with children, but I have a small, inexpensive MP3 player and download free library books on audio. I also can do podcasts which helps improve my mind as well. I listen while I walk and no matter what I am walking, I am in a different place.

I too get bored when I walk the walking track here, that's why I started walking the blocks. I get to see where some people live that I didn't know lived there, I get to "steal" home improvement ideas and I also see feel like I'm going somewhere instead of round and round.

Thank you so much! My kids and I do sometimes walk to the park. My son usually plays while my daughter and I walk the track. The problem with that is I get bored walking in circles. lol

Welcome and good Luck. I am in a similar boat. Small town and no treadmill and I do not have the money to buy any equipment. All that being said, walking is free and is great fun. I walk around my neighborhood and sometimes at the park. I just remind myself that destination doesn't matter, it's the motion of going somewhere. Good luck again in your journey, have fun and remember every little bit helps.

Hey! My name is Jerri. I am a stay at home mom/housewife in NC. Right now walking is my exercise of choice but I am trying to figure out how to vary it. I don't have a lot of options as to where to walk and I don't have a treadmill and can't get one right now. But I am determined so I am just going to keep walking my two routes I have and see how things go. lol
