Good Morning - Going to the mall is a great idea - after you walk go shopping!!!
You could also get a Leslie Sansone Walking DVD and walk w/her at home. I just did that a little while ago - I have, what I believe to be her original TAPE, it's ages old and it's a 2 mile walk. I did about 12-15 minutes - been a few weeks so I started slowly.
Wow I love this page you are all so supportive!!! I just turned 75 on Aug 11th, so need to get my rear in gear!! I'm going to be a volunteer at our local hospital starting next week, so hope to get some walking in then too. Everyone is right, it is a matter of getting out of the chair and doing it - unfortunately up here in ND winter comes early, so that means I will need to go to the mall to walk, but I'm going to set my goal and get busy. Tomorrow get your shoes on and get out there and walk. Promise yourself you will walk at least 10 minutes. Going early in the day is a great way to make this work. It is cooler. You get out before your life gets in the way, and you feel stronger all day.
Promise you will walk before you do your morning rituals of reading the paper, watching the news, etc. Then it is done, You will be free the rest of the day. You will have made your lungs strong and your body strong.

even if it's just 10 minutes at a time - start by breaking it up into 10-15 minutes segments and slowly you will build it up to whatever amount of time you want. Remenber - slow and easy wins the race!!!
I keep watching all the walkers go by each morning and think I need to get out there and join them. I just can't seem to get off the chair to go do it, think every day okay today is the day. Maybe if I set some goals and have to be accountable to a team that does walking it will help. I can use all the encouragement I can get - I had lost weight, but have since gained it back. Help - - - ****
