I joined this team awhile back but somehow never got around to introducing myself - sorry about that!!
Walking is a great exercise for me and I really enjoy it - my two dogs love to go out for a walk, too, although they prefer 'running' so I'm trying to get to where I can run a little bit. At the moment, I can just jog a little but my primary 'fitness coach' Princess pushes me to do more and more. Who knows? Maybe someday I'll be able to jog/run enough for my little fluffy white dog!
I'm lucky to live in Southern California, where we have lots of parks, walking trails, hiking trails, bike trails, etc - most are 'multi-use' and you can see a combination of walkers, runners, bikers, skaters and in some areas, horseback riders as well. It's really nice to have year-around access to such great areas to walk and I am very grateful to be here.
I am a big fan of pedometers - my current 'favorite' is an Omron HJ-720IT. I like this one because it seems extremely accurate, slips easily into a pocket without making a big bulge [trust me, I don't need any 'extra' bulges!!] and it also clips nicely into my bra if I don't want to wear it on my waist or pocket. I've used a number of other brands but this is the one I like better than any [at least for now until I discover a new gadget, haha]
Spring is right around the corner for the entire country but it's 'here' in Southern California so I hope to get out to do even more walking because this is my favorite time of year to walk or hike. I enjoy ordinary walking but find hiking a lot more interesting so if I have a chance to hit the trails somewhere, that's my first choice.
I'm looking forward to getting to know others on this team!!
