HI there! I'm Alicia. I'm 24 and live in Eastern Washington. I re-joined Sparkpeople back in October and have been doing well so far, consistently losing a lb a week since then. Most of this was done by sinply watching what I ate (which I never did before) and exercising a little bit. Since things are going so well I'd really like to start upping my exercise! I have 3 dogs who need the walks and know it will benefit us all to get out and walk!
So..hello! Some information I'm looking for to get started: Do any of you use the "tire chain" like straps for your shoes? I live in an area that is EXTREMELY snowy and icey and had a severe knee injury a few years ago due to ice so it's really hindering my getting started!
Also, anyone have a program that builds on itself and is varied?
I have been wearing the Shape-Ups for everyday use (as they are absolutely the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned and I'm a vet assistant so am on my feet alot), has anyone used these with positive results for your walking routines? I've seemed to notice an improvment in my posture and my back and knees seem to hurt less, but it may be due to other things too.
1st-10lbs by Thanksgiving!
