Firstly welcome to the team - we are so glad that you are here. Secondly, all the wisdom shared so far is fantastic. When I hit my goal weight on 3/3/2012 I will have lost 170 pounds. It would be easy to look at 170 and decide it is too overwhelming. Instead I allow myself to look at this moment only and the decisions I need to make in this 24 hour period. If I can do this - I am sure you can do it too. If you want to talk privately - let me know and we can help each other reach our goals. YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Set small goals. Pick healthy habits and adopt them one or two at a time. Start with drinking water (increasing weekly until you are at 8 cups a day if you can) and adding veggies to two meals a day most days. Get more active. Find something you enjoy. You don't have to belong to a gym to be more active. Just a few minutes a day is a great thing to start with.

I like walking so I walk most days. I have some minimum goals and some desired goals for each day. I also have a weekly goal that is the average of the desired daily goal. This gives me "wiggle room."

For example, if I want to walk an hour a day, I set that as my desired goal. I have a minimum goal of, 20 minutes. I also have a weekly average of 7 hours or 420 minutes in a week.

I use miles and am walking across the US, but the goals are the same.

I do the same with my other goals. This gives me a little space to make the plan fit into my life rather than fitting my life into a plan.

Welcome to the Team! I agree, don't worry about the long road ahead. It just like driving, you only look a few feet ahead as you drive. Small steps is essential. I try to lose 1-2lbs per week. Just keep working at it and you will get there. We are here to support and keep you motivated. Good luck on your weight loss journey. emoticon

Don't think about how long the road in front of you but get ready to enjoy the journey. It was a long road that got you to needing to lose 100 pounds! You will feel great with each small success you have - just stick with it and you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish. And you'll get plenty of support here...think of it in 10 pound increments and celebrate each success!

Hi Mona! I was on a large dose of steroids about 9 years ago and my weight got up to 275. I dropped to 235 doing Sugar Busters, lost 20 with Weight Watchers, started Spark People at 226 and now am down to 207, with a goal of 140. Out of all the programs I've done this one fits my life the best because it's about making small changes slowly so you don't find yourself frustrated. We need meals that the whole family can eat, I can do it with this. Its really great, good luck!

I weigh 285 and need to lose about 155 pounds. It's going to be a VERY long road.
