Haughton - Did you have a chance to get in some walks over the holiday weekend? I did not. I got in some hard outside labor working around our farm, but no miles logged. Am hoping it doesn't rain today so I can get in a walk or run!
Just walking to lose weight. I'm really over weight so about 1-2 miles a day is all I can manage right now without giving out. I would like to get up to 6 days a week with encouragement. Right now it's just 2-3 days.

There are also teams that do virtual walks. There are a few teams that use exercise.lbl.gov to track their walks. The neat thing about this one is that you walk from coast to coast (4063 miles) and can see each day on a map how far you have gone and a picture of where you stop for the night. It has been great fun for me.
I also walk 10000steps.org.au in a walk across Australia. Mostly it counts steps and each month there is a different challenge that you can join and pick one that suits your walking habits. I've "walked" in several countries as well as Wisconsin and through several areas of Australia. It is great fun.
I like the idea of mapping out a walk also and walking there. It can be great fun.

Great!! This is my first walk like this. I've done the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer - a 39 mile walk in 2 days through Chicago - for two years now, but not a walk designed to chew through this many miles, but purposely spread out in a reasonable amount of time.
I chose to start from my home and walk somewhere that was still within a reasonable driving distance so my hubby and I can take a road trip to that place when I'm done. It's an area I've never been - and as a bonus, there are a cluster of wineries there!
I got on various city/county/state websites/tourism boards/etc. and ordered visitors guides, and have mapped out my route page by page and mile by mile to keep myself motivated. That's just the way I did it.
You certainly do not need to go to the efforts I have! It's just a project to keep me going.
