Lost 2 this week. :)

Today we had a full day of staff development. We started with a breakfast/shower. I thought about all the food that would be there and decided to play it safe and eat before I arrived. I didn't touch anything after I peeked at the offerings. When I was near the other table watching pictures being taken, I couldn't deal with all the temptation of that carrot cake and disappeared. I was helped by repeating one of the Daily Spark sayings to myself. It was something about the pain of sacrificing the food of the moment being brief but the results of that action being permanent. Also, as one of my colleagues was holding the elevator door, I was ABLE to walk briskly. She and another colleage were rooting me on. It felt GREAT!

Lost 1.6 this week. I felt as if I were WALKING for a few steps instead of feeling as if I were dragging myself. It felt pretty good and leaves me looking forward to more of the same. I can't imagine walking around carring 57 pounds of groceries so I guess my heart must be feeling lighter also. *grin* I purposely walked down four flights of stairs at work instead of taking the elevator a few times this week. My pedometer is registering between 1500 and 2800 steps each day. This is such an encouraging breakthrough. Hope you are also enjoying your sweet successes. :) There is so much to be thankful for in our lives. L*I*T*A* your blogs on Somebody and The 24 Interludes of Life are lovely, truly lovely. Thank you for posting them.

Hello all. :) This week was a milestone victory at the scale. This is the lowest (350.2) I've been since my husband had surgery and almost died from some germ infection. There were clothes passed on to me that I tried on and they fit even though they were smaller than I wear! Now I'm trying some batch cooking. I started off with chicken and sweet potatoes for two weeks. I enjoy having a sweet potato with lunch. Today I prepared some hamburgers and sweet potato. Things are looking better. I feel so encouraged having reached this milestone. Hope you are all encouraged as you're reaching yours also. Have a great day!

I think a "healthy lifestyle" is finally starting to sink into my brain instead of a DIET mentality. Still - I am very uncomfortable in those situations - because for me - it's still a slippery slope when I think - "oh I can have just one" (cookie, bite of cake, potato chip) so I still much prefer not to put myself in those kinds of tempting situations. So for me to take a baby step and not give in that one time, that was an accomplishment for me.

Yesterday, we had a lunch at work for all of the employees that moved into our office building from another building. We decided on pizza and salad. I ate a big plate of salad first, and brought in some toppings for my salad, chicken, lowfat cheese and my own dressing to be prepared. I sat in the room while everyone ate pizza, and after my salad, I cut one piece of pizza in half and ate that - and ONLY that 1/2 piece. Now for most people - that may not be a big deal - but for me to not throw in the towel and just eat 2 or 3 or 4 pieces - that was a big deal for me. Thanks SparkPeople - and Spark friends for helping me to learn to limit my food portions! I hope I can learn to eat in moderation consistently. It's a baby step, but it's a step in the right direction.

So many new things have happened in the last 3 days that I am really happy about.

I went on my regular 4.26 mile walk on Saturday and DH was with me and I jogged 12 different times in that walk with jogging distances of 200 to 400 feet long. WOW WHAT A RUSH! I haven't jogged in maybe 20 years.

Sunday I went on my early morning walk again with DH and jogged 4 times, I was listening to my body and my front of my thighs said you have jogged enough for one week. So I walked as fast as I could and am just thrilled with what I did.

Today I walked only. DH was not with me and I promised him I would only jog on the week ends with him incase I needed some help or something. My body thanked me for that too!

OK weigh in was this morning and for the first time in two years I am now in the 100's. I lost 1.8 pounds and I am just really happy with the dividends that are paying off right now!

I put my page back on line this morning too!

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERY ONE!

Trying something new. Since I spend so much time online or reading, I decided to reward myself with steps. For each post or email I do 10 or more seated steps. Yesterday was my all time highest total of 3102. Today I have 1856 so far. I'm trying to add them to reading also but I can't tear myself away from the book when I'm engrossed.

Checking in with the SP class cos I haven't done so in awhile. I'm still here, 22 pounds lighter, and so much fitter.

But my biggest success is sticking to a healthy lifestyle for more than 2 months. In the past, 2 months was about my limit before I went back to my bad habits. Seeing the results of sticking to my goals has turned the light on for me. I know I have a long road, but I know that I can make it, thanks to SP and the great people here.

Thank you Lita I had a smile the whole time getting through the poem~you were correct the timing was perfect. Lorraine your right too. I want to lose the pounds like everyone does I am in a great place right now in my life change that I know it will come off maybe not as I would like it but it will come off when my body is ready to get rid of it. I just need to follow a healthy life style and be happy!

Thanks again for sharing! emoticon

Hey!? That happy pound of fat is hanging around me with the extra .6 pound this week. 20 points on mayonnaise is not a good idea. Congratulations to all you who had another loss this week. Those who didn't, we'll do better next week. I like that point of view in the poem.

hi there, thought this might be a good time to post this little poem.............

Hello, do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat, and I'm the HAPPIEST pound of fat that you would ever want to meet. Want to know why? It's because no one ever want to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!
Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one. So I just stick around and happly keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is, until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight. Yes, its fun beig ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.
So when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh I only lost one pound."
(As if that were such a terrible thing.)
For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.
and I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.
Happy Days!!!
After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

Wow where has everyone gone?

I lost 4/10s of a pound this last week and am in the process of getting my calories and carbs straight, so I understand them better.

Lost inches too so I am happy ~ certainly not what I wanted but what are you going to do. Some times a change up is in order and my time has come to change it up again. As long as I keep learning and getting closer to my goal that's what really matters. I am still on a good pace so everyone have a great week.

I am so excited! What a good day I am having! It all started with my normal morning walk, which part way through I decided to jog. I made it half way through my normal routine! That's the most I've jogged in years. And then it was time for weigh in, 3 lbs this week! 3 lbs! That's my biggest loss yet! Which put me under my first goal! And makes my total weight loss 11 lbs! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Went food shopping with DH today. Tuna is only 5 oz in the can now! They had a great sale going. We're set for a while with tuna. Didn't like paying $1.89 a can. This is the second day in a row I've gone out to shop. Yesterday we looked at doors at Home Depot. I forgot the cane and used the shopping cart. It was fun to get out.

“There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.”

When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

I just returned home from a 7 day cruise. Not the best vacation for one with food issues. I decided not to beat myself up about taking a break for one week, but to get right back on track when I returned home. Although there were better choices to eat then I chose, I wasn't as good as I could have been, and I gained 5 pounds. I am proud that I got back on track the first day back, and have lost 2 pounds immediately. So I am sure that that other 3 pounds will come back off again, and then some more. I am not proud of going crazy for the week, but I am proud that I got back on track as soon as I returned home. I know I wouldn't have done that if I didn't have my Spark buddies support.
