Amanda You joined a great team. we are here to help each other the best that we can. It's a long journey, but we can do it. Yes there will be slip ups, but you just have to get back on track. I for one just had a slip up. Gained a few pounds, but I got right back in there. I'll weigh tomorrow. Wish me luck. Use your tools that Sparkpeople have given you. Keep in touch. And don't be affraid to ask questions.
to the team!
I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing. Agatha Christie

Welcome to the team.

I am new here too. I started Week 1 this past Monday so will be in overlap a bit in Phase 1 with you. Good luck!
Atkins and South Beach are both healthy diets but it sounds like you are more suited to South Beach. It gives you a lot of healthy options with good results.
-American consumers have no problem with carcinogens, but they will not purchase any product, including floor wax, that has fat in it. - Dave Barry
-My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four; unless there are three other people. - Orson Welles
-The food here is terrible, and the portions are too small. - Woody Allen

glad i found this team. my name is amanda and i bought the book today ... i am going to make my official start on sunday. i am looking forward to seeing results!
in the past i have tried the atkins low carb but in the long run i did not feel it was the heathiest option. my mother dies of a heart attack about 7 yrs ago. she was only 47 and i am wanting to avoid that outcome for my own life....i did not feel atkins would be that heart friendly option.
i hate counting cals...points....carbs....etc. i did a diet about 5 yrs ago and had a lot of success but it was alot of counting and i was not able to maintain it. i also tried ww and lost a bit but again the counting..... i like the fact that there is minimal counting with south beach!
i am sure this road will not always be the easiest to follow as i tend to be a carb/starch/sugar
junkie-- but i want to be healthy!!
