I'm a nurse too and recall how diets like South Beach and Atkins were maligned in the medical community. But that was in the past and the latest information says that both diets are healthy. Low fat diets are losing converts as scientific evidence proves that most of the problems are related to processed foods, sugar, and HFCS.

Carb range normally runs around 75 to 125ish depending on your sensitivity and also your food choices (some veggies are more carbalicious than others). Cheese can bite ya in the backside if you do too much. I recommend keeping it to one or two servings. If you are losing then no worries. Focus on getting your 4 1/2 cups of veggies, cook with olive oil, 2 cupsof dairy and you will be fine. Using the tracker helps tremendously in planning and seeing where to tweak. Hi. I'm new to South Beach. Today is Day 3 on the diet. I was wondering if you guys could look at my tracker and see if I'm where I need to be for Phase 1. I know South Beach doesn't give you carb numbers but I wanted to make sure I wasn't going either too high or too low on them. As of this morning I've lost 1.2 lbs which is awesome :)
I just finished the original book and the supercharged one. I'm pretty impressed by the science behind it. My husband is a nurse and was a little against me doing Phase 1 to begin with. We talked about a lot of what I read in the book and he's done a 180 on it. He ate spaggetti squash with me last night instead of pasta. Granted he had some of the garlic bread too. LOL. A lot of the basics of SB are the things he's talked about before. He'd thought it was like Atkins with high fat foods like bacon, butter, etc and extrememly low carb.
The only problem I'm having so far is regarding the tracker. I am not sure if I'm within the ranges I need to be in. My calories are a little low but I think that's okay. I'm eatting a lot. Not sure if I'm having too much cheese though. Anywhoo I'd greatly appreciate it if you guys could let me know if I'm doing okay :)
