Thank you so much for looking! I will keep trying to eat more snacks and veggies AND try to get Atkins out of my head. I really appreciate the feedback. This is a great community for support. I will continue to keep my food updated and if you have a chance, let me know if I am doing anything seriously wrong! Have a great day!

Satisfied,

Thanks for showing us your nutrition tracker. WTG.

The main thing I see at first read is way too few veggies and not eating frequently enough.

Three main meals and three snacks, that's the rule and there's good reason for that.
We're trying to stabilize our blood sugar, and yes...even if we are NOT diabetic. This is so important to making our "engines" run efficiently...as in get our metabolism kicked up into running gear.

Don't confuse SB with Atkins. They are two different plans. Follow one or the other, but don't try to hard to combine them, since you'll only confuse yourself and who needs that?

Here's the "Phase I in a Nutshell" for you to follow as a guide.
**************************************

Typical day on phase 1

* Breakfast--1/2 cup veggies (may be V8 Juice), and protein (like egg beater, eggs, or Canadian bacon)

* Snack--protein (nuts, cheese, beans, meat) may include veggies like sweet pepper scoop or celery sticks with peanut butter or Laughing Cow

* Lunch--2 cups veggies and protein (like chicken, beef, fish, lean pork)

Snack--same as the morning (cottage cheese and cheese count as protein not as milk)

* Dinner--2 cups veggies and protein

* Dessert/snack--ricotta cream or something similar not just a sugar free jello (something with protein is best)

Somewhere in here include your dairy ..two servings, either one cup milk or one cup plain, sugar-free, fat-free yogurt.

Include at least 1/2 cup legumes (beans) every day if you can manage that, and more if you like.

Aim for at LEAST 4 1/2 cups veggies per day. This sounds like a lot, but it truly isn't if you spread it out through your meals. And try not to get stuck in the land of salad....investigate cooked veggies too. Fresh, canned, frozen...all are acceptable.

Use your allowance of healthy oils. Your body needs certain amounts of fats.

Don't forget your water...VERY important.

There's a lot more info in those threads sent to you earlier....so take the time to read them...them read them again as needed. I still go back...and back...to clarify questions that come up. It's all there.

Hopefully, this can help you get going a bit better.

We WANT you to succeed and we have faith that you can do just that.

It's not that some people have willpower and some don't. It's that some people are ready to change and others are not.

Sugar free candy is fine - you have a 75 - 100 calorie sweet allowance per day.

Sugar free pudding is phase 2 due to the thickening agents used in the pudding. Stick to sf jello for now.

Remember we don't pay attention to net carbs - we are focused on the ingredients and in phase 1, eliminating all sugars and grains.

Thank you for the help and advice and support!! Two questions, can you have sugar free candy and sugar free pudding? The pudding is 5 net carbs with only sugar alcohols and the candy is 25 carbs with 25 sugar alcohols. Are those OK on phase 1? Thanks again!

emoticon to the team! There isn't a low carb/sb option on the tracker. Just use it to see how your food is playing out - definitely a valuable tool. Alcohol definitely can slow down weight loss but the occasional indulgence shouldn't totally throw your game off - unless you are drinking more than the one glass.

Use the tracker and let's see how we can tweak the diet and get that scale moving for you.

Hi! Glad to have you join the group. I can tell you that alcohol can definitely be a contributing factor. Even in the later phases, we are only allowed light beer and 1 a day! So if you are having more than that, this would be why. The first 2 weeks are meant as kind of a detoxifying stage. To rid your body of the cravings for the processed carbs, sugars, etc. If you are still putting that in your body, doesn't really help does it?

I know 2 weeks seems long when you are first starting out, but think of the long term accomplishments. Also, if you don't have much to lose, you will lose slower. Just an FYI. Sb is a patient program, not a quick fix. It teaches you how to eat and is a lifestyle change. Keep this in mind while on SB

Read through this thread.

You'll have to scroll down quite far to get to the bones of the SB program, but it's all there.
It will take some time, and you might have to read part, then return to read the rest, but if you don't have the book...or even if you do..take the time to do this.

For your breakfast, here's another link to study. Be aware that some of the suggestions in this thread are for those who have progressed to Phase II and not suitable for Phase I, but read through it anyway.

Reading through these links might make the plan seem a bit daunting, but it truly isn't. Once you get the hang of it, it's quite easy and you go on "auto-pilot" most of the time, including the time you spend grocery shopping. Even that gets a LOT easier and you'll breeze through the store in no time flat.

Hope this helps get you going.

Thank you Jay_Dee! I will start the tracker right now, as of this morning. Is there a low-carb or southbeach food options? And Ok on the alcohol!! You are right! I knew that, maybe just needed you to say it with me! :o)

Hi, Satisfied, and Welcome.

It's hard to offer suggestions when we don't know what you've been doing, other than the alcohol that does need to go away for now.

How about getting to work on that nutrition tracker? It's already visible, but it's empty as my cookie jar (sorry...lol).

So.....use it....if it goes into you mouth, it goes into the tracker. Then let us have a look and see what we can do to help you get things moving. Our beloved Kierae is an absolute GENEOUS at this and tweaking the plan a bit for the individual usually helps a lot.

Ok...so your assignment is....lock the liquor cabinet, sharpen your mouse finger and use the nutrition tracker, then get back to us.

Most of all...do NOT give up yet. This plan can work for you. You CAN do it!

It's not that some people have willpower and some don't. It's that some people are ready to change and others are not.

Hi everyone! I did Atkins a few years ago and was pretty successful. 133-118 in about 3 months. But gained it all back and then some! I am currently 160! I have been on SB for 2 weeks and have not lost. I will admit I have had alcohol and that might be the obvious answer to why no loss! Other than that, I have been strict with the food list. I just need a little support and advice. It is hard to diet 15 days and not lose anything! I really need to get down to 123 as the BMI says, but with my frame, I am very comfortable around 130. Any suggestions? Anyone want to buddy up? Also, I get a little confused about the boards and where to post. So bear with me. Thank guys! Good luck to all!
