I have learned to love decaffeinated herbal teas now. There are so many delicious ones. They are one of my favorite things now.

Yogurt has to be low fat or nonfat plain or Greek nonfat. I prefer the texture of the Greek. And different people like different brands. I've tried most brands and I like Dannon the best. But I'm not a yogurt lover really. My doctor wants me to eat it. LOL. You can put no sugar chocolate powder or unsweetened cocoa powder in it or sugar free drink mix or sugar free powdered gelatin or sugar free jam or sugar free syrup or lemon or lime juice or extracts if you don't like the taste of plain and don't mind the artificial sweetener.

Thanks for your very helpful replys. I will try to find a herbal tea I like and just give up coffee. I did switch from regular Coffeemate to Bliss which is suppose to have just natural ingredients and less sugar. Also I have a question on yogurts. Which are the best yogurts to use when on SB phase 1?

My suggestion would be herbal teas. LOL. Delicious, hot, and much better for you. But then I'm not a fan of coffee or creamer. Years ago I used to love the French Vanilla Creamer before I looked at the ingredients. Some of the commercial coffee creamers are the worst kind of frankenfood - there is nothing healthy in them. The first ingredient is usually sugar or corn syrup solids. Lots of additives and sometimes artificial sweetener. Some have 6 gm of sugar in a serving. I think that they have gotten rid of the transfat in most of them or I hope so. Actually whipped cream is healthier in my opinion. It's your choice though. We ll have to pick our own poison so to speak. LOL. Most of us have things we can't give up that are not all that healthy. You just have to keep them to a minimum.

Hi All and Connie,
I hear ya, I was doing Atkins before (and not losing) and am used to heavy whipping cream in my coffee!!! Arg! I have switched to 1% milk and am abiding by the dairy limits listed in the book. That has been the biggest adjustment. The food otherwise is wonderful and the 20 minutes of exercise very doable.

emoticon Hi I joined SB 12 days ago and I'm loving it. So much easier than WW or Atkins.I found the book,SB Diet Recharged at the library where they sell used books that people donate for $1.00! I loved what I read especially that there were no points or calories to count.First week lost 2 lbs. I know it's not much but after my scale being stuck for so long I'm so glad it still works!I eat 1/3 C black beans with brkft and I'm not hungry or craving sweet/chocolate at all. I only have one problem I would like help with. I can't have my coffee without French Vanilla creamer emoticon I used to put 2 tbsp so I have cut down to 1tbsp. I've tried using half & half and stevia but I'm trying not to use artificial sweetners. Would love any suggestions. I only drink 1 cup of coffee per day.

Hi, just joined this group as 5 years ago I did SB and lost 35 lbs in about 4 months and another 10 lbs over the next 2 months. Losing that weight was huge for me as I had never had weight loss success before. I didn't stick with it but it did inspire me to quit smoking so I figure that was a success. The weight has snuck back on over the past 5 years with quitting smoking (I focused on that) and having a baby and all of the ups and downs of my marriage.
Well I am now starting back because I know SB works for me and I knew that I had to wait for the AH moment in order to stick with it and now back track again. This time my whole family is coming along for the ride so yay to that :)

I'm so happy to contribute to the success story thread! Just over a year ago, I decided to give the SBD a try because I was really unhappy with weight gained in my first year of grad school and I had my brother's wedding coming up as a goal. Well, one year later and I'm still here! This is the most consistent I've been in this area of my life for my entire adulthood - actually, since my teens, too! The fact that I'm still making an effort a whole year later is a victory for me. I have been playing around with my maintenance range to find a comfortable spot, but I will comment on that in November which will be one year since I hit my goal. Thanks to you all, a great group of people and source of inspiration. Good luck to everyone just starting out!

Seventh day into Phase I and I am actually doing well! I can't believe that this time I've stuck to it. I had a couple of challenges but maybe it's just me but I've noticed that my osteoarthritis isn't as bad and I really do fell more energetic!

Hey there, everybody! I'm new to this team, and I'm really excited to get back on the SB Diet. I did it in 2007 and got down to my lowest weight since high school, but certain circumstances in my life have piled on the pounds. I'm ready to shed all of that weight and get back to the healthy body/mind/spirit I want!

I started Phase 1 on Wednesday, and so far I'm feeling much more in control of my eating and the cravings are gone! It's amazing! I'm still struggling to start my day with a V-8 (I still think it's a little gross), but I'm doing it anyway because my body needs all of those veggies.

I'm not weighing myself again until Monday. I think the scale could be demotivating for me in these delicate initial days/weeks. I hope I have good news on Monday!

Keep up the great work, team!! We can do it!

Down 5 lbs as of yesterday morning, feeling great!!! Had a slip up yesterday as we went to sushi for Fathers day, but definitly did not go overboard...just checking in to hold myself accountable. So excited this time around...Feeling motivated! How's everyone else doing?

Ok, I am back on SB, day two and going strong....I feel good this time. Lost 53 lbs last time, gained 10 of it back, this time I am hoping to lose at least 20 if not 30....one day at a time. By the way, I love this page, you all keep me inspired! emoticon

My advice would be to get your 4.5 cups of veggies in, your 2 low fat dairy, your daily 1/2 cups of beans, your lean protein and healthy fat. Drink lots of water. Be sure and get your snacks in. They will help maintain your blood sugar. Nuts would make a good snack after a workout as they contain fat, protein, and carbs. Space your calories out.

So I am returning to the SB diet tomorrow phase one! I went on it about 4 years ago, lost 53 lbs andhave gained ten lbs back. I have tried a couple of times to go back on it and it is very hard, and am looking for support. I still have about 30 lbs to lose to be at "healthy range". I am also doing c25k and am scared I will be too starving to stick to SB while running but I gotta get the weight off...anyone returning to SB and have some tips and tricks? Thanks everyone :)

Sounds like you are doing fantastic. Keep drinking your water. At some point it will become a habit. I used to hate water but now I like it. It's very refreshing. I love it ice cold.

I am down from 202 to 196.5 since 05/22/2013. I am finding out that my cravings are mostly gone except when my head says I am hungry and want sweets. Then I know that I need to eat some protein and continue to drink water. I am not much of a water drinker. But since I switched to almond milk, (Blue Diamond, unsweetened), I haven't kept the skim milk in the house, which I use to drink all the time when I was thirsty. So maybe this is a good switch for me. It's just something that happened by chance.

So I plan to start SBD on 1 January 2013 - I have battled with my weight my whole life and I like the ideas behind the eating plan. I no longer want to be on a diet - I just want to make healthy choices and let my body find its optimum weight.

I feel slightly anxious as I did try phase 1 a few months back and I had the worst headache I thought I was going to die - after reading a few blogs and seeing this is a common symptom I am going to be stronger this time and better prepared.

I have scheduled my first weeks meals - I plan to make a large pot of chicken soup as I find this filling and I can have this for lunch!!!

Junk food is so ingrained into our culture. It's part of my childhood memories as we almost always ate healthy at my house and rarely had treats. I remember when I got candy and when I got a hamburger. I loved them.

I actually did awesome yesturday. It is super hard working in a grocery store, around dinner time. Then I go on break after seeing all that food and have to make good choices lol. But I did it I kept it low carb. Though I just kept seeing people with fruit and cream cheese dip, it looked amazing. So atleast I wanted that and not junk food. Haha thats a good change. Then right before I went home I was like oh I want Jack in the box, I was truly hungry but not for a whole meal. But sadly those are the things that cross my mind at night. I stopped and said what you really want is some sleep. I swear when I do low carb I sleep amazing. Im starting my 3rd day. Yay!

Sounds like everyone is doing great! I had a small victory today. Its like my mind doesnt want me to get past these two weeks. But I know my body will appreciate the extra weight off my joints and back. Also I enjoy the extra energy. The hardest part for me is getting past the this is too hard lets just eat what we want but in moderation phase. lol uh thats what Ive been doing for a while and that has got me nowhere but up in pounds. Plus all the back in forth is hard on my belly weight and heart. SO Im pretty motivated here lately to stick to this, I havent been perfect on it the last few days, but I wanna stick to this and make it thru that stupid first two weeks. I have never made it past 5 days straight. Im not starting over just chuggin ahead. Everyone have a great day!
