Hi! My name is Kathleen, I've been playing around on Spark for over a year now but haven't really participated in the message boards so far. I'm 25 and currently living in Redlands, CA.

I started losing weight when I was 20 years old and 242 pounds. I just woke up one morning and, on a whim, decided to see if I could handle a vegetarian diet. This led me to an ever-increasing awareness of my body's needs and abilities... I learned to cook and enjoy it, started working out and discovered that I love weightlifting, and began reading more on health and wellness. Now almost 6 years later I'm down to 166 and have made many DRASTIC changes.

Vegetarianism only lasted about 2 years, but a year ago I was diagnosed with celiac disease and am now on a lifelong gluten-free diet. I cook almost all my own meals from scratch and for the most part stay away from any package/processed ingredients and refined sugars. Lately I'm experimenting more with vegan baking/cooking, though I still eat meat.

I've also started running, which has made a noticeable difference in both my body and mind. It's a great feeling to push your body and watch the miles go by. I haven't done any races yet (and am not a very good runner yet in fact... my PR for a 5K distance is 36:45, but since that's down from 46:00 I'm happy!)
