I think that you have been given alot of good ideas. Have you thought about trying some of the Leslie Sansone walking tapes that many people really like? I know that walking has been a major factor in my losing weight. I also like Jillian Micheals tapes. When I do exercises anywhere I am doing them I only do what I can and push myself just a little more til I can get do whatever it is.

I find that the best way to keep at it is to keep reminding myself that I am worth it. With this in mind, even when it is impossible to go out for a run/walk, I will match in place infront of my telly and I find myself building intensity and working up a sweat even without leaving my house. You are worth it so just give it your best shot. Before you know it, you won't imagine spending your scarce free time any other way. All the best and we are all here for you.

Don't sweat the small stuff!

I am going to suggest that you go out there and try some new things. I used to feel that exercise was a chore until finding what I love, and for me that was Zumba. Keep looking!

thank you all for your words of advice. I truly realize the cards are in my hands and I must find a new approach to the exercise. I just don't want it to feel like another "chore" which is how I view it sometimes. Once I can jump the hurdles of "need" I will be in the home stretch and on my way to the "want". This will indeed be my biggest challenge.

Try a new exercise show on TV, buy a new exercise video, try some of the SP videos, or maybe you could use 10 minutes of your lunchtime at work to walk?
Most of all keep emoticon ...fake it until you make it!

I agree with small steps. I started walking short distances and keep working up to longer and longer walks. I also set up a stationary bike in my basement and again began with a few minutes working up from there. Once I got into a routine, I found myself enjoying the exercise and wanting to do more. As someone who was a couch potato and could only imagine exercising, accomplishing this has been amazing.

If I can do it, I believe that you can. And, if you need encouragement just log on, you'll find it here.

My trick is small blocks of exercise. When I think I have no time I do one of these:

I slip in 10 minutes on the stairwell at lunchtime

I built up to 3 min of jumping jacks on bathroom breaks (sets of 20, then 30 at a time, then built up to 60 at a time which for me is a minute), rest 10-15 sec, then do another minute, etc.

Likewise, you can do the small increments with marching, jump rope without the rope, and shuffles.

I kept sneaking it in until it became a way of life!

Good luck ! You can do it!!

The key to success is to get up every time you fall. You can do it, just keep on pushing. Just change one habit at a time! :) We are all here to encourage you.

Hello fellow sparkers. My name is MissValerie. I have been on sparkpeople for a little under a year now and have really been struggling with my weight loss, consistency and finding a way to get exercise in every day. Something always comes up. Too many hours at the office, too much snow, too little sleep you name it I seem to be finding an excuse these days. Not something I am usually known for so hopefully I can find some tips here to help me find my way back to enjoying my exercise.
