I don't believe in the word DIET and I also don't believe in depriving myself of something that i want to eat. I just decided to eat what I want in moderation because the craving will eventually take over and that will lead to overeating later on.

I sit at a desk all day at work too so I have to make a point to get up and stretch and walk around a bit during my day, as well as get to the gym at night to burn those calories up. It's a process but oh so worth it!

I am also pretty much stuck at a desk all day at work. Exercise prior to joining SP was pretty bad. I started out slow with short walks, increasing the distance over time and have now added other forms of exercising into my daily routine. It's been all about baby steps and not overdoing it.
I am also a member of the Quickfire Challenge team which works wonderful with a desk job. Every day team leaders give us exercises to do in limited quantities several times each day. Many can be done at the desk and during scheduled breaks; and often times there are variations to fit within your fitness level.
Joining a variety of teams that fit your lifestyle are a wonderful way to stay motivated and get the support you need.

Welcome! I don't like the word diet either really what does it mean DIE with a T at the end of it. I worked 10 years in a warehouse as a supervisor, I got all the exercise that I needed just at work. Now I also have a desk job at a library I have gained so much weight, but sparks has helped me look outside of the box on how to exercise, Good luck!
Hello Spark Friends, I am 56, a wife, mother, and Grandma of two. I have not been on Sparkpeople long but have enjoyed what I have seen. I struggle with NOT getting the exercise I need. I used to get it at my other job, but now I am at a desk all day. I need to start somewhere so I can use ALL of the support I can get. I need to lose weight but I know that if I change my eating habits, make better choices and exercise, that will help the weight. I don't like the word "diet"...... Thanks
