I think a real question is "how do your clothes fit?". With all the physical changes you've been experiencing, it is possible that your weight is in fact not moving just now. You may want to talk to your dr. just to be sure you aren't expecting too much in this category for right now.
I believe in lifestyle changes. I don't do 'diet'.
The motivation is hiding within each of us. This is the place to coax it out and get all the support you need. Lots of inspiration too.

My biggest problem is losing weight though I stick to my Diet,track my calories-----I'm losing inches not weight!!!Since my Chemotherapy my weight got worse due to the Oral medication that I'm taking.After my Ischemic heart attack and Angioplasty last year I'm not supposed to put too much pressure on my heart---so I walk as much as I can and do Yoga---still my little Tortoise(Turtle)is STUCK!!!
18#s is excellent! Keep it up!! I retired last summer and just turned 60 and am trying to finally take the time to get myself in good shape! I have some feet issues, so that limits me somewhat, but I continue to keep trying!
I got a Wii for Christmas and am finding it lots of fun and exercise...if you can afford it, it would be fun for you and the grandkids.

I started out by walking short distances and worked my way up from there, gradually adding the stationary bike and gazelle and now am going to add more strength training. Taking the grandchildren along for walks will also benefit them and it's always more fun when you have company. If it's too cold and slippery (like here in Minnesota) check with your local school - our high school lets me walk the halls and stairways after school hours.
I would also suggest checking out the Quickfire Challenge team. We are given daily exercises that can be done in smaller amounts throughout the day and many have more than one version - some easier for beginners or those who are limited to what they can do.

I am 63 years old and just gradually gained weight since I was late thirties. I take care of my two grandchildren fulltime and many school involvements. I have watched my weight since I developed high blood pressure about 5 years ago. I have lost 18 pounds since July 09 when my husband had sudden heart bypass surgery. It scared me to death even though he has heart disease in his family. But exercise is not easy for me and I need to pick up so I can lose more weight. My health is pretty good but I want to lose more. (5'3 & 218lbs.) Not the 118lbs I orginally posted.
