Hello & Welcome. I'm new to SparkPeople too. I'm from Indiana. Right now it is way too cold to walk anywhere, but in the warmer months I love to go for long walks. I also like to swim, but my husband & I just moved into our own home so no more pool. Our apartment complex had a pool & I miss that. Oh well...LOL Again Welcome to SP.

Living in Minnesota my outdoor activities are limited to walking when it's not too cold (26 below zero this morning) or slippery and snow shoveling.
During the spring, summer and fall I do a lot of walking - more fun when I take the dog, one of my sons or a friend, gardening, mowing and raking. Some may not be as fun, but it's sure satisfying to see a job well done. I am doing a lot of stationary biking now and am going to buy a bike in the spring and hope to get out on our trails a lot when they aren't covered in snow.
Trying to do a variety of activities can help you from getting bored.
Hi Everyone, - I'm 50 and I had lap band surgery. I've lost 40 lbs. so far. I'm starting to look pretty good and I feel a lot better. I still have 30 lbs to go to reach my goal. I go the gym 2-3 times a week, but would rather be doing other fun stuff, so I thought I would check you guys out. I live in rainy northern California, and sometimes outdoors is not the best option, but I do love to be out and we have the most amazing rivers, ocean beaches and forests here so there is no excuse to not do fun stuff.
What kind of fun stuff do you guys do? I mostly like to walk and hike, but sometimes I ride my mountain bike or kayak (really, I've only kayaked a couple of times). I love warm water and my dream is to retire in a place where I can be in the warm ocean every day.
