I have to agree with taking it slow and steady to make it your lifestyle, not just a limited time weight loss. I have done that in the past and always failed.
I also agree with reading posts to keep motivated. SP and its wonderful members have been key to the success I have so far. We all need to make time for ourselves and I count the time on SP as just that - time for me! And in the process maybe I can help another member too. How great is that?!
Welcome aboard! I think if you realize this is a lifestyle and not just a way to lose weight you will have better success. I am definitely taking the slow journey, but I keep telling myself that's okay because it is better than the alternative which is slowly going up the scale rather than down the scale. I need to find a balance between being diligent about tracking everything and actually doing everything. I try to keep track of what I eat and exercise, but I don't always get it on the tracker because I want more time to workout, etc. Good luck and I hope to see you on your journey to fitness and health this year.
I found that reading the posts keep me motivated. I read them and the challenges and it's get those tennis shoes on and get moving. I also track my food every day. This also helps me to stay on track. I have never stuck to this either until I joined sparkpeople. It has truly kept me on track.

Welcome Beachlvrmi, Remember, the name of the team is staying fit and Having FUN! I get bored easily, so I find it is easier to stay with my program if I search the recipe section to make new and different foods that are healthy, plus to change up my exercise routine. I do everything from Zumba to country line dancing, playing tennis (when the weather cooperates) to playing with our Wii system; also I have a variety of fitness DVDs so I can change them up also. Welcome and come here often to get motivation and support.
