Read some books like The China Study by T. Colin Campbell. It's not what you think. Its a jaw
dropper and I could hardly put it down!

Jesus's real name is Yahshua which means God is Salvation; many people call Him Yeshua or Y'shua which simply means Salvation. It's all good.

God's real name is YHVH in Hebrew or YHWH in Greek both man Yahweh.

I think it's awesome to know the real names of those I love.

Due to health issues, I decided to try a plant based diet to improve my health. I wanted to give this a month to see how I feel about it.

So far, I am 5 days in and already LOVING it and would like to make a life commitment to a Vegan diet.

I am already feeling better. I am already feeling more energy. I found that the switch has not been hard at all. And I am excited to see where this will take me.

I feel as if I am on a huge learning curve, but I am up for the challenge!

SOURCES OF VEGAN PROTEIN

(Everything listed is vegan and is cooked and a 1 cup serving or 1 serving according to the label and the total grams per serving listed by it) There are substantially more that aren’t listed, but this gives you a good idea that protein is everywhere, not just in animal products.

You only need about 40 grams of protein a day regardless of what the meat and dairy industry say. They are just trying to pad their pocket books. Research will reveal just who determined the amount of protein supposedly needed in the daily diet.

Hello , I just joined this team. I've been sensing for a few months now to eat less meat. I've gotten to the point where most of the time I don't want animal meat whatsoever. I sense it is God leading me this way. I'm not ready for Vegan eating yet. I plan on having eggs, dairy and occasionally fish. I plan on occasion to have meat. Right now I'm going to try going no meat to see how I feel. I'm looking for help in finding proteins. These are what I use for protein now. Beans, nuts, seeds, cheese, cottage cheese eggs, and veggie burgers. I don't like tofu. Are there any other proteins you all use?

Looking forward to getting to know you and finding recipes.

Debbie

The important thing to remember about being a pure vegetarian or vegan is that you have to get your vitamin B12 some other way.
B12 used to be absorbed through root vegetables years ago so it was no big deal; however, our soil is sterile now and feces no longer clings to the vegetables we get from the markets. Animals are riddled with feces and it is in their systems, so most people get adequate B12 from consuming animal products.
You can purchase a B12 supplement in most any megamarket or most drugstores. Otherwise you can also consume nutritional yeast on a daily basis.
B12 is an essential vitamin.
Eat well and eat healthy!

It means that I can eat foods that I don't lose my appetite over after realizing how they got to my plate. It's about eating with a conscious. It means getting the support of my meat- and cheese-loving husband and how sometimes he picks up his fast food burger and looks over at my dish and says, "Mmm, that looks good". It's about shrugging off my mother's or one of my sisters' disgusted face gestures, when I once again say "no thank you, but I don't want any beef stroganoff." But it's also the joy on my mother's and sisters' faces when they thoroughly enjoy eating the vegan dishes I bring to parties/holidays and how I have to go this weekend to purchase the ingredients for a wild-mushroom stroganoff dish my mother has been hassling me to make for her!

I started my family out by feeding them vegetarian dishes that I had to learn to cook, and then cooking their 'meats' to the meal, but making the vegetarian dish the main star! Worked like a charm.

Good luck, be sure to read the veganwolf.com, she has a lot of great ideas.

I'm still very new to this. I recently have been researching to what I want to do. I know I have been having alot of digestion issues and I'm sure it's 90% of what I eat and will help if i change alot. My Hubby had high blood pressure and I changed the way i cooked to help him, now I need to do something for myself.
I think vegan to me is being health contentious about what u eat. I want to take all meat out of my diet and keep only fish. My whole life I have had red meat and chicken in my diet and hardly fish,b/c i really didn't care for the flavor, but I know it's so healthy.
I have read skinny bitch and looked on the website and that sickened me. I continued to eat red meat but was selective where i got it from, yet u never really know where it came from u just have to trust it's not that meat from those videos. I do believe God put animals on this earth for us to eat, but not be cruel and abusive to them. But b/c I want to change my health issues I'm willing to take meat out of my diet.
I just find it hard to cook since I've always had it in my diet, plus i have a whole family of carnivores.

Stephanie, how tragic that you had thyroid cancer so young...but how wonderful that you have over come it! I think you're probably right about cancer feeding off of fats, but it also feeds off of animal proteins (which all contain fat).

Thanks for sharing!

Deb, I can't wait until you can get off the meds too! I think it does take a bit longer to get off the BP meds. Hang in there!

Thanks for sharing that WEITMARE, you've been through quite a lot health-wise!

Dusty, congrats on losing the heart meds!! I give it another month and hope to be at least of the oral med I'm taking for diabetes. The BP med may take a little longer, I guess I'm thinking that just because I've been taking that a long time.

Being vegan to me is about more than food, it's about my conscience and my responsibility to all living things. I've been vegetarian/vegan over half of my life. Once I learned about how animals were being treated, I just found that I could no longer contribute to their suffering. I'm like you guys, I do not condemn those who eat differently than me. I know it takes all types of people to make up this world, but I still cheer when I find new vegetarians/vegans or learn that someone has even cut red meat from their diets. I strive to be as cruelty-free as possible, using only animal-free products.

After becoming vegetarian when I was young, I lost 20 lbs with which I had been struggling (I was 15). I stayed fit and "thin" until I had my thyroid removed due to cancer (at 19). By then I had became vegan, and I really believe after much research, that one of the reasons my cancer never spread to my lymph nodes was my low fat vegan diet (cancer feeds on fat, therefore I was "starving" it, not allowing it to grow). Though I have some health problems, I do not have ones which are associated with meat eating (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc). While learning about how to eat for my IBS, I learned that being vegan was actually the most helpful, for apparently meats and dairy are huge triggers for people with IBS.

I could go on and on, but I'll stop here. I look forward to learning more about all of you! Congrats Honeybee on getting to stop your medication! Wonderful news! :D

Exactly! Right on! Me too!

I don't know if I mentioned that I had to quit taking my heart medication since February 18th because I was having 'over dose' experiences EVERY time I took it! Turned out that since I've been eating vegan, I no longer need that medication! I have had no problems to speak of regarding chest pain since I quit.

For me, its eating no animal products, and minimizing vegetable oils. I'm pretty much trying to follow Dr. Barnard's plan of the 4 new food groups. However, I'm the same about not ridiculing those who eat differently and simply promoting the benefits of the way I'm eating to anyone who wants to listen! LOL!!

I should probably also add that a major goal for me is to reverse diabetes & high blood pressure, as well as all the other nasty complications that these conditions bring along for the ride...

To me vegan means healthy living. Eat good food without saturated fat. Have a lot of fiber to fight unwanted diseases and maintain a normal weight without using the word diet.

To me, eating vegan means avoiding foods that contain saturated fats and cholesterol.
It’s that simple. We haven’t grown a third eye and we don't ridicule those who can and do eat those things.

It just happens that the foods that contain saturated fats and cholesterol are mostly animal proteins and fats which include meat (including lean), poultry (including skinless), seafood (including salmon), eggs (including the shell...lol) and dairy (including low-fat).

A little about amino acids:
Humans consume many foods that contain proteins or amino acids. One normally need not worry about getting enough protein or amino acids in the typical American diet. Foods from animal sources are typically rich in essential amino acids. These include chicken, fish, eggs, dairy products, beef, and pork. With the increasing emphasis on vegetarian diets, "plant sources of protein are gaining in popularity. Such sources include dried beans (black, kidney, northern, red, and white beans), peas, soy, nuts, and seeds. Although plant sources generally lack one or more of the essential amino acids, when combined with whole grains such as rice, or by eating nuts or seeds with legumes, all the amino acids can be obtained".

But if one is still fearful of not getting the required amount of amino acids (of which we need minute amounts daily) one can always take an amino acid supplement!
