I just have one pet pygmy goat, and it is the easiest thing to take care of. I tether her to a calf hutch and move it around the yard all summer to eat. Then in the winter I put the calf hutch in a sheltered place and feed her hay. So, grass or hay and water are all she gets. And the only health maintenance that I do is a yearly CD-T shot and de-worming. Oh, and she gets rabies shots every three years.
Hi and welcome to the team. Great to have you with us. I just became the leader....so, looking forward to getting to know you as we work together to reach or get closer to our goal(s). If I can be of any help, please let me know.
Hello. I am Bluekitty. I live in rural section of Southern Oregon. Actually, almost all of Oregon is rural. I live on 12 acres of trees, black berries and scrub oak. Oh and also POISON OAK! I am physically disabled but am starting to garden this new year. Will be starting heirloom seeds in the folley (that's an outbuilding). Hope to grow most of our own food this new year. We are going to start raising chickens for eggs and meat. Thinking about getting a goat to keep the blackberry bushes under control. .My farm girl talents include cooking and baking from scratch, canning and preserving food, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and any other needle work you can think of. I am very frugal. I can't stand waste. I live as green as I can. I live 15 miles from the nearest town. It is small but we have a Super Wally world. It services about 100 miles around it. The next bigger town is 55 miles away. My family life is a little weird. We have my 88 y/o mother, whom we all take care of. My 35 y/o son, who is a student at Southern Oregon University, studying mathematics. He is a genius and is working to solve unsolvable problems. He wants to teach and is doing some teaching now. Next is my 32 y/o daughter who is working on an MBA. We want to open an Aldi's or similar type store in Southern Oregon. Then there is my s/o who is 58 y/o. He is eager to start a farm on the property. Lastly is my ex-husband. 59 y/o and also disabled. He has an apartment attached to the folley. We have a dog and 6 cats that live indoors between my ex. and the house. I have been on Sparks People off and on since 2009, along with my daughter. We are slow but sure losers. My real goal is to stay healthy with 60 just around the corner. So Hi to all the other Farm-girls out there.
