Hi There! Welcome back to Spark People! Carbs (& Sugars) are what really affect your blood sugars! I was newly diagnosed back on Nov. 1st. I just had my first A1C test done since I was diagnosed and it was 6.3. I want to (and need to) get it lower yet. I am not on any medication at this time, just with diet and exercise, trying to bring it down....... and KEEP it DOWN!!! Hopefully you can see a dietian, and they will help you learn what you should be eating and how to eat correctly. I have also joined my local weight watchers (again) to help me get going down the right path to weight loss!!!! Exercise....even if it is just walking...any exercise you enjoy...dancing, zumba, exercise DVD's.... anything! Get active, as much as you can...start out slowly one or two days a week, and build up to more time and more days. Eat more fruits and veggies, and lean protein.
Good Luck!! I am heading back to work on Monday, I have been off work for 6 weeks...had surgery. I won't be on spark people as much as I was....but, I wish you the best of luck!!! Hang in there.... You can do it!!!!
