I would love to test that many times a day but my insurance refuse to pay for my strips being they say I have the disease in good control but how can I keep it that way if I'm not testing after every meal to see if what I"m eating is good for me. Its a shame insurance companies have that much control over people lives.
Right now I'm checking my glucose levels 4x a day, once when I wake up and then after breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I'm on metformin. This week, I take one pill with breakfast. Next week, I take one pill with breakfast and one with dinner. And the week after I take one pill with breakfast and two with dinner. So I'm checking my glucose 4x a day to see how the medication is affecting those levels. I think I'm following your suggestions rather well so far, so we'll see. It's only been a week, but I'm optimistic that I can gain better control of this disease. Thanks for the response!

Welcome to the team! I been a diabetic for about 3 years now and I'm still learning. Drink plenty of water, Try to exercise for at least 30 minutes day and watch your carb intake. I try to eat between 80 to 100 day, I do follow the low carb lifestyle but do allow myself for fruits during the day. Are you taking your bs everyday, I take mine twice a day, in the mornings and before I go to bed. If you have any questions please ask.
Hello, I've been recently diagnosed with Type II diabetes. I'm 33 years old, and I have two children, a 2 1/2 year old daughter and a 4 month old son. I want to be healthy for them and for myself. I have many maternal relatives with Type II diabetes, including, my mother, brother, grandmother, uncles, and aunts. My grandfather and aunt died from complications of Type II diabetes. So needless to say, I need to get this illness under control. I'm looking forward to learning more about how to control this disease through diet and exercise. Thank you for all your help!
