Hi HCN! I am glad to see that I am not the only one struggling! What areas are hardest for you? I am doing ok with food cravings since they put me on phentermine, but my emotions are a mess! I wanted to offer you support and let you know that anything I can help you with I will!
There is loads of information out on the internet. When I got the diagnosis I picked up Diabetes for Dummies and it was great. I also read "SugarBusters" as it was the food plan my doctor recoemmended. Sugar busters is all about veggies, protein and good carbs. They don't support the use of white foods- potato, white rice, white bread etc. They want all your carbs to come from lentils, whole grain and fruit/veg. White foods all have high glycemic index numbers so they spike your blood sugar. I recommend one of those sources, especially the Diabetes for Dummies. I am no expert but I am in the middle of an education class that is real helpful. If you need anything email me!
A month a go DH was diagnosed with diabetics. I feel since the doctor called us with the news we are left to find our own way. They did send a diet a week latter but didn't tell us what his cals were. I do have some info thatI got from the peopls whp gave us the meter. DH has a disablility and is looking to me as his home nurse

Welcome! I am new too but learning a lot. I got my diagnosis in late April. I have made a lot of progress but there is still quite a bit to do. If you ever need any support look me up! We can get through all of this if we stick together!
Hi all, I was just diagnosed a week ago and I'm kind of struggling. And I'm new to everything on here basically. I hope to get more involved and actually get to know some people who understand and are supportive and vice versa. I've only told my parents and one friend so far.
Anyways, I will read up on other posts and contribute what I can.
