Although I've been on Spark for about a year, I just found this forum. Years ago I was diagnosed with various allergies, but something new has shown up. About a month ago, I broke out with a bad case of hives, for which the cause is still undetermined. It's either meds or food, or possibly both. Previous diagnosed allergies include: stinging insects (had years of shots for those), Brazil nuts, pollen, and mold, plus I found out the hard way I'm allergic to penicillin and sulfa.
For now, I'm just finishing a course of prednisone (along with Claritin, Zantac, and cortisone ointment) and see the doctor again later this week.
In the past three weeks, I've cut out a lot of foods and have kept a detailed food journal and reactions. Ironically, I've lost about 10 pounds in the last two weeks because of eliminating foods, while maintaining my exercise levels. It's not a sustainable diet, and it's getting incredibly boring. I used to like unsalted rice cakes, but after this, I may never eat another one!
I'm glad to find this forum and hope to stop itching soon. If anyone has suggestions for elimination diets, I'd love to hear them.
