Yes, it is ok to get your carbs from fruit, veggies, etc. And Carb Cycling is a great way to get your metabolism running again, even after doing low carb.

Hi there my name is Wispy and I just found this team.

I have been on low carb for the last three years. However I do intersperse it with several weeks of low cal in order to lose weight. I can maintain fine on the low carb as long as I stick to the 20gr max per day but to lose I have to go on to 1000 cals a day so eat a lot of veges and soups.

I would like to give this carb cycling a go as it seems more palatable to be getting fruit and more veges every fourth day. (I love both of them). I am diabetic and the low carb works very well for that and also several other health issues I have. I am disabled so cannot exercise.

I am good at managing what I eat as long as I leave the refined and processed stuff alone, so all I need really is the guidelines. Do I need to go lower than 20gr net carb on the low days to balance out the high days? And what is a reasonable amount of carbs for the high days? Also I cannot eat grains, sugar or potato, so is it OK to get my carbs on the high days from fruit, cheese, cream and other veges? I would so love to increase my veges every fourth day.

Last question :o) will this still work for me after being on basically low carb for so long?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all. I just signed up for this team as the concept really strikes me as interesting and something I would like to try, so I'm giving it a go. I am familiar with low carb/no carb diets and know that people have some great initial success with them but there are definite negatives that I have seen. First off, a long term low carb/no carb diet can wreak havoc on your liver and kidneys and I am not hip to signing up for that, and second, most people I know that have had success, gain the weight back as soon as they start back on their full carb eating plan. I know it will take an adjustment period to get a handle on what to eat when, but it really sounds like a solid theory and I'm willing to give it a go!
Also, I will be the first to admit that I'm not always the best at getting back onto these message boards in a timely manner, so if you should be waiting for a response from me and don't get it, please don't be offended, I don't mean it to slight you.
Here we go!!!!!!!!!!!
