That article was awesome! Thank you! I'm going to save it and reread it (probably a few times! lol). I am definitely carb sensitive. I have completely cut out all breads, pastas, and pretty rice too. I do eat lots of veggies, some fruit and like my protein shakes in the morning, oh! oats I eat too!

I think this would work really well. I just have to figure out how to fit it all in with my crazy life! lol I have figured out all the numbers for calorie cycling from the website (freedieting) as well as all the nutrient ratios. I clicked for low carb. I have all my numbers. I guess I just need to match my workouts with the calories.

I'm determined to figure this out! Thanks for your help! So far, I'm not sure how to get my carbs as low as they say!?

Hi and emoticon to the team..

Well, first let me tell you that you are doing great!

Now, to answer your question about how calorie cycling works along with carb cycling... it works similar to how the carb cycling alone works, by forcing your body to adjust to the "changes", i.e. reduction, combination and timing of how you eat your carbs... The more carb sensitive you are, I believe the more carb cycling and tapering will work by itself, but paired with calorie cycling seems to help you burn calories even more efficiently....

I found a great article on calorie cycling:

I am carb sensitive and just by cycling/tapering my carbs I get results, but when I cycle my calories along with it, I seem to do even better, I am not completely sure why, but I think it is because the body is constantly being challenged by the changing calories and macros, allowing for consistent progress and thus avoiding plateaus...

I hope this helped... ~ Dee

Hi there! I have been thinking about this for a long time... learned about it from a good friend and have been trying to figure out how to make it work for me!

So... I have read everything here, plus many other articles on carb cycling. I have also gone to the freedieting.com site and got my numbers from there. I need some help with knowing what exactly to do with them all! This really doesn't seem like it should be too hard, but I do have a couple questions/ concerns...

1. I do pretty intense workouts most days, but especially Sat. when I do long runs... I'm up to 23k now, so over 2 1/2hrs. I need my carbs before and after... so (think) I need to work the cycling days into this.
2. I am a protein type in nutritional typing, but realized before that that I have problems with carbs and need my protein... one reason this has intrigued me so much!! ...but need to find a balance with my workouts.
3. I'm wondering how the calorie cycling works together with (or maybe more how it works with) the carb cycling.?

I would like to lose some more weight but definitely fat! That is a bigger goal for me right now than the lbs. I am crazy busy at home and need something fairly simple. I eat pretty much 100% clean all the time and know that there is something to all of this... I really want to figure it out!

Thanks for any help you can give!
Rachelle
