Hello everybody! I know I've technically been here for 2 weeks (exactly!) but I've never thought to post on the message boards yet! So, here we go! I'm 26 years old and I live in Beaverton. I recently got married (a little more than a month ago) and I had ATTEMPTED to lose weight before my wedding. However, this didn't work out for me because when I try to lose weight with a HARD deadline (like a wedding), the closer I get to my goal date without making the requisite progress, the most discouraged I get and I eventually gave up. The breaking point was when my seamstress told me I could either lose a few pounds in the 2 weeks before the wedding or she could let out the side seams (since my dress no longer fit). I considered her first suggestion, but eventually decided that I didn't need that stress so I went with the second one.

However, now that I am back I feel like I can actually pace myself in getting healthier, not just smaller. I don't have the pressure of a hard, unmoving date or a specific set of measurements I have to fit into. I feel like this is a much better time for me to be engaging in a new healthy lifestyle, since it will actually feel like serious life changes, rather than obsessing over diet and exercise to fit into a wedding dress in x number of days. :P
