Success is different for each person. Some people love numbers and using the nutrition trackers and exercise trackers. I don't. I stumbled on success when I designed a program that fit my personality. I also went through long plateaus and some gains in my four years on SP.

The one thing I could do and did do was to get on the computer and check in every day. I joined a couple of teams that addressed my health issues. I checked out the health and wellness articles. I took the quizzes and I experimented with the trackers and challenges. What I discovered about me was that I hated numbers and trackers. Counting calories was mind numbing.

However, I could do anything for three days. I started with a three day sugar fast. I kept it up in three day cycles. Then, I went wheat free too. Lastly I have started going processed foods free. My diet has continued to get healthier and healthier as a result. The time spent between "junk" food is getting longer and longer. I don't crave the "junk" like I used to. I don't deny myself anything.

The quantity of raw foods just gets larger and the quantity of "special treats" gets smaller. It has been a long process, but I can live with this. I still have 50 more pounds to lose and have been on a long plateau. Most recently, I have discovered juicing as a way to increase nutrient intake and decrease the cravings for junk food. I seem to be moving forward again on my health and wellness journey.

I have a couple of Spark Friends who have had great success counting calories on a weekly basis and they have designed spread sheets for it. Each person is different with different needs. As long as you check in every day for a few minutes and explore the Spark People site, you will start to discover what your needs are and what is the best program for you.

One last thought. I really like the ten minute exercise videos. Most are too energetic for me, but I adapt and just keep moving something for the ten minutes.

Welcome to Spark People and the Oregon Team. I have lost 50 pounds here. There is tremendous variety in the resources available here. Just be sure to log in every day and check something out for at least ten minutes. It is how I succeeded.

Hi everyone, like a million people who read the yahoo article on this page, I saw this and really wanted to join a supportive community. I am a full time student ( which doesnt help the weight issues) I am also a BBW model and would love to lose the BBW status. My goal is to look great and be healthy enough to try and have a baby.. and a few other goals.. I am fiercely independent so asking for support is a new process for me. I cant wait to find the new old me and love who I see when I look in the mirror.. Have a blessed day ya'll..

And a new day will Dawn, for those who stand long...
