Debbie, Great job with the loss. I did not realize you had such a fall and scare . I got really sick last year and that motivated me to lose weight. I might not be able to control the bug that got me, but I certainly can control the weight and the food I take in to pump up my immune system.

John, You will get so much out being on Spark People. I will say it again. Ten minutes daily searching the SP website helps keep healthy living in the front of your brain. Hang in there.

It's so good to have you with us here.

Depression can make weight loss difficult. Hang in there. You can do it.

I was a clinical Binge eater. It's classified as a serious eatin disorder like anorexic and Bulimia.
I ahve lost 80 pounds with SP. I started at 255 lbs after a Diabetic Blackout and a tumble down a flight of wooden uncarpeted stairs to a cold concrete basement floor. I was lucky to escape with only spread ribs and bad bruises. (after binging) I also ahd a Gastric Lap band surgery in March.
My Sleep Apnea went away
I have cut down on my blood pressure meds and dropped diabetes meds (I'm only on 1 oral pill now)
Exercise helps with depression. You will find this out on your own.

I hope you enjoy the tools that AP has to offer.

Welcome to the team and to Spark People. I am from NW Oregon and am a retired teacher also with apnea. You have made a good start with your program. Just keep checking in every day and you will soon reach your goals.

Hi, I'm John. I grew up (more or less emoticon ) in Aurora, attended college in Eugene, then lived in Albany, North Albany, and now Corvallis. I'm married to a wonderful woman and we have two grown (again, more or less) children.

I work in the information technology sector, and I have not done a good job of taking care of my body over the years. I suffer from depression, sleep apnea, and hypertension...all three of which are related to my fitness level, or the lack thereof.

So here I am on SparkPeople. Tomorrow will be the end of my second week tracking everything I eat and exercising more than I ever have. Only two weeks--and I feel fantastic. I have a long way to go yet, but I'm off to a good start.
