Sorry about your friend. Since I was a 20 year employee, the ESD was quite happy to see me retire early. Hiring a newbie out of college or two part time people is a lot cheaper. Dave Whitman is the president. Great guy, really smart, very helpful. I was the VP for our county so I attended as many meetings as I could. I got my MS Ed in 95 with a teacher from Tillamook. She taught early intervention special ed. Wish I could remember her name. The only other person I can remember is a 30 year teacher in special ed, but she does not post her name on the net so I will respect her privacy.

This link might amuse you!

We do get the weather here, and I love the wind storms as long as I am at home and watching out the window emoticon. Who is your union president. Remember a guy named Marlin that worked at ESD here? He just lost his job due to budget cuts. His kids are friends with mine.

Thank you. Next time I visit I will look you up. I have a good SP friend who also lives down there. But she has not been posting much lately. Our union president lives in Tillamook and our last ESD annual inservice was held there in August. I retired from the NWRESD in April. They serve the schools in both our counties. I love Tillamook and Oceanside, but am not sure when I will get back that way now that I don' t have work reasons to drive the two hours.

My daughter works for your competitor. Before Fred Meyer first opened it was her job to set up the nutrition center. Your little community sure gave them a rough time. It snowed on the passes. The wind was so high it knocked out the power. She had to use a flashlight at the Shilo and a generator at FM to stock the shelves. She had to wade through water to get to her hotel room. But I do remember her saying that Safeway let them park their cars in your lot so they would not get flooded.

You do get quite the weather and she enjoyed every minute of her stay and the warm hospitality from your community.

Thank you. The weather is perfect for walking, not too hot and no rain. Do you ever get to the beach here? If you do, come into the Safeway on 4th street and look me up. My name tag says Linnie.

Welcome to the team. It is beautiful around Tillamook. Hope that stress fracture heals real soon so you can enjoy the milder weather we are suppose to be having.

Thanks, I love you profile picture by the way LOL. That would be me today as I left work early since my foot was hurting pretty badly. I usually walk with a lady who is almost 70 and I practically have to run to keep up with her! It is pretty humbling lol. I feel icky when I do not get my daily walk, so I guess I had better head back to the YMCA and lift some weights. I really prefer walking out in the fresh air and sunshine.emoticon

Hi, I just got started here and am still trying to learn how to navigate the site. I am 50 years old, married, four kids, three grandkids, three cats, and one horse. I work for Safeway as a produce clerk and a checker. I cannot currently exercise as I have a stress fracture on the top of my foot. Hopefully, that will heal quickly so I can get back to walking daily and my yoga class. I am looking forward to having somebody to shed these extra pounds with.
