Welcome from NW Oregon. I eventually want to have an all square foot raised garden. I only have two so far and a lot of planters. The soil has not dried enough here to till to even plant the rest of my produce.

I lost 50 pounds with SP and will lose the next 50 with them. Just keep posting for at least ten to fifteen minutes everyday. Eventually, SP will subliminally plant healthier practices in your brain.

If you haven't already joined it, I highly recommend the Chair Exercise team. It is active and has tons of good links and resources. Chair exercises helped me through my initial stages of my illness.

Hello Everyone!
I'm interested in Sparkpeople because I, too, want to lose some weight and eat healthier.
I love the recipes and also that they include nutritional info.
I' m 51, female, and I'm not very active.
I had a stroke 4 years ago at age 47 from a car accident and it paralyzed my left side.
I can walk with a 4-prong cane, but I ache so much that I don't walk as often as I should.
I do go to Physical Therapy, but it has only helped moderately.
A couple of years after my stroke, I went to visit my sister and gained 30 lbs.
Before that I weighed 135 lbs.
I'm now down to 155, but would like to get rid of the rest of it!
Double whammy...even though I'm not as active, I still have a healthy (or unhealthy!) appetite.
I have an incredibly wonderful husband (age 70) and he would like to lose some weight also.
He does most of the cooking...I do a little bit.

I dearly love gardening and my husband has built for me a raised "square foot" garden bed on our deck that I can use while sitting in my wheelchair.
Would love to hear from anyone out there who has any good suggestions.
