Welcome Debbie to the team. I have a few years on you and changed my lifestyle 11 months ago with SparkPeople. If you can build a strong foundation for yourself and build on new and healthy skills, Spark will work for you. I was on SparkPeople for 2 months learning everything I could, and very excited about the journey I was about to take. Purchasing the book Spark really helped me get all the information I was learning consolidated in one place.
After almost 11 months I have lost 63 lbs, adopted good nutrition and fitness habits. The key for me is consistency and logging in my food and fitness everyday without fail. I am Rosalyn and I am 79 and raised 4 children, now there are 8GKs and 7 GGKs.
And I am still working and loving it, I think the more you LOL the more energy you have, and the happier you are.

Before moving to Oregon I was a lot more active. I find that the overcast skies and I don't like each other. I am finally taking action by having light added to my classroom and my home. Also mall walking during the winter and home upgrades good old fashioned sweaty work.

I remember, it seems not so long ago, I was really an active person. I went dancing every Friday night, rode horses, hiked up the river and it seemed that I was always on the go. Thinking back on those days, I wondered what had changed. Life. Life changed. More stress, more work, more responsibilities. How does a person balance it all and make it work? That's why I'm here. I have a 40+ hour a week job, a 7-year-old and a very tired 53-year-old body. I've tried to do it on my own - just like I do everything else - so when I heard of Spark People, I thought, "Okay, I'll give it a try." So, here I am. By the way - I'm Debbie and I am ready to write a new chapter of my life. Oh yea, I'm a Healing Touch Practitioner too. I guess I'm one of those people who takes care of everyone else first. : )
