Thanks, You've given me some new places to look for next time I'm over there..... (I'll have to pick and choose). I'm told there is a good place down in Charleston also called "High Tide" or something like that. All these good eating places, maybe I'd be better off to stay home... emoticon

The PO is down from the grocery (now closed--darn) behind the Roca Mar Restaurant and Heidi's is right across the street--next to RainDogs boutique. Easy to find. Also like Luna Sea Fish House--on Hwy 101 next to the little expresso candy/ice cream place in a little strip mall like place. Richard, the owner, has his own boat and brings in the fresh catch for the restaurant. Cheese and Crackers is across from the Commons (the old school building which is now City Hall). She has excellent soups--and you don't dare eat her bakery items they are sinfully delicious!
It's glorious here today, just got back from a trip down to Florence to do some business errands--loved being able to see the ocean as I drove.

I'm doing well with the liquid soft/food stuff--which is a good thing since I have 5 more weeks to go! LTJ

I can understand why it's a special place. Heidi's (I'm not quite sure where the PO is there) but when you turn west as you come into town where the grocery store is(was), and go down that street a block or so, there is another little place kind of on a corner (looks like a house) I heard their food was good too, but they were closed. Where is the post office at? On 101?

I have never found a coastline that compares with the Oregon coast and the particularly up in that area.. I envy you having the opportunity to live over there... Bettyor

It's a special place here--the Drift Inn is the restaurant you mentioned. Heidi's across from the Post Office also has great homemade desserts. I walk that road by the Shamrock several times a week. We had sun yesterday--it was glorious.

I like Yachats also, go there often. The little restaurant as you're coming into town from the South on your right, I don't know the name of it, but they have the very best Marionberry cobbler... Was over there a couple times last summer/early fall. And enjoy just walking on that frontage road that was south of the river there that goes back behind the Shamrock.
My husband used to race motorcycles on an old muddy makeshift motocross track about 6 miles up the Yachats River Road. Lots of fun memories!!

I live in Yachats--we are all sad that the Shamrock is gone--The silver surf motel is not as classy as the Shamrock, but it's clean and on the ocean. Heceta Head BnB is wonderful but too spendy for retirees like me! Some of my richer friends also like staying at the Overleaf Lodge. Today was an absolutely gorgeous day here on the coast!

My wife and I love the Oregon coast. We only live about 70 miles from Lincoln City and port north. Our favorite place is Yachats. They are tearing down our favorite place to stay Shamrock Lodgettes to make way for condos. We used to stay at the Heceta Head lighthouse B & B for a week, but it is beginning to get cost prohibitive. Lot of hiking trails.

Wow! If I loved closer to the beach, I'd probably walk the beach every day... One of my favorite things to do, however - I'm about 65 miles from Florence, so..... I envy you for your opportunity!
I walk also, about 3 miles a day outside when I can, or 30 minutes on a TM when it's too ugly out. I have a spin bike I use sporatically (sp) and thats about it. I'm 71, widowed and retired...
Welcome to you - glad to have you on board.

Hello--I'm gearing up for continent # 5, China, leaving in April. I broke my ankle/leg in June so am in the rehab phase of recovery. It's been difficult to regain the strength I had before my "fall from grace"! I am lucky to have a great Physical Therapist and a good friend to help me work back up to my old self (walking 3 miles a day--4 days a week). Not to mention the year it will take to get over the daily pain of the break! What a huge life change this has been for someone who has been active and reasonably healthy--at least I didn't do it in Antarctica!!! My weight has been a struggle since I was 4, but now I'm just trying to eat healthier, do the modified exercise plan each day and not be discouraged that it's harder after 50--try 60! I live in the most beautiful place, a short walk to the ocean and have much to be grateful for. I'm working to stick to 400 calories per meal/snack each day. Just had oral surgery so I'm doing lots of liquids--yuck--then it's soft foods for 5 more weeks. I'll survive--I've never shared my struggles with others so this will be a new thing for me.
