Hello Spark Oregon!
My name is Sonja and I live in St. Helens. I am a stay at home mom of 2 little ones. I want to change how I look and feel about myself. At first I tried dieting and exercising for all the wrong reasons, I tried doing it for my family but unfortunately that wasn't enough for me...I had to want to do it for myself. So the thing that made me change my mind was this past winter my mother in law gave me all her clothes that she no longer fit because she had lost a lot of weight. And when her clothes fit me was when I decided I had to do something before it got way out hand. In 2005 I married my husband and a day before my wedding my grandparents told me I was fat(which I weighed 200lbs). Needless to say it broke my heart but now I am 158 I have lost 2 lbs since I started working out(which has been 3 weeks). I look forward to being on this team!

Good Morning SP Friends,

Hope the morning will bring constructive results. Yesterday, I enjoyed a day off and had chicken fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, and chocolate cream pie.
Today, it is back on track with my exercise and attitude. I feel different, my attitude is changing, I am starting to think like a health person; after four months SP must be becoming a habit.

The impossible is possible,

I didn't get my walk in today, but I worked and that is a workout just in itself. Working in the produce department at Safeway is a very physical job.

Morning Karen
The gym last night was good. My son's girlfriend went with me and they gave her a 1 week trial membership. Working out with a friend is so much more fun. My son is planning to join this next week when he gets home from work.
I'm very glad to hear that hospice has that help available for the caregiver. I work in as a caregiver for a DD home and it does feel that the caregivers needs get lost because the clients' needs are so many. This site is very helpful with information and articles to help me in my work.
I started a sp page for one of my clients this week to help him track his carbs better for his pre-diabetes. Now my supervisor is thinking about using it for a couple more clients in another house. SP is changing lives in more ways than I first imagined.

Morning Angie,

Yesterday, I got 2 miles in before everyone got up but today I cuddled up with my mom and sleep another 2 hours.

Today she will be going to an Adult Foster home for 2 nights; I will be attending a Hospice training meeting on Friday. Speakers on how to “Feel Better” including; Yoga, Reiki, Qi Gong, Healing Touch, I will have to Google some of these holistic medicines before class??? Hospice is big on caring for the caregiver, so this should be a big to-do. (new tricks are always welcomed)

I still eat after dinner, thus adding too much to my daily intake. I will make a list of preferred foods for mindless evening eating. Carrots, celery, non-caffeine tea...?? Hang it on the refrigerator by my motivation picture.

Karen, That's odd I just saw an add yesterday in a magazine about the powdered peanut butter. I will have to try that.
I really love my church family, they have been such an amazing blessing to me. I am a Sunday School teacher and the Children's Worship leader there. I enjoy teaching immensely and watching these little ones grow up and move on into their teens and young adulthood.
Glad that you've found a group that feels like a good fit for you.

Hi Angie,
Mom and I went to church yesterday, first time in a long time, we do go to the monthly crochet group, so the Sunday service was great. Seems like the lesson is always something you need to hear, this Sunday "TEMPTATION".

This was not our regular church, but might become, they offer quilting, diet and walking groups, Might have found us another place to find friends. Since we moved 3 years ago I am low on friends.

We did call the Senior Center and will be doing the background check and then volunteering to visit lonely seniors in our area. Thought this would help both my mother and myself to spread and receive the joy.

Still have your tea-crackers on my grocery-list.

Read on another SP page about dry peanut butter PB2, you can Google it and find a store in your area, sounds good for morning smoothies (protein without the fat).

1ksbest they are similar to a dry cookie. Like tea biscuits or something.
Eating breakfast hasn't been a terrible change for me except on Sunday mornings. Trying to get to church and get ready for my Sunday School class and children's worship circle and a room full of preschoolers usually has me skipping breakfast and grabbing a 911 from Dutch Bros.
I just looked up the nutritional info. for my 911 and it looks like I'll be saying goodbye to those! Wow what a wake up call that was. I will have to try your smoothies or a bagel thin with cream cheese or something.

I will look for those, BelVita breakfast biscuits, anything that might help (are they dry crackers or bread).... thanks.
We went to the movies "Safe House" and I put a cup of the F1 cereal in a baggy, think I will also put some in my car for emergencies. Maybe add raisins, nuts and ???
Maybe you can try a smoothy for breakfast, they go down easy and you can add all sorts of stuff. Yesterday I put a cup of broccoli, 1/2 cup of beans, then Herbal Life health mix, and Kool Aid stuff. It was good and it does seem like you eat less later if you eat breakfast??????

I too enjoy the fiber one cereals my history has been to enjoy them at 11pm with a movie on the sofa. Gonna be changing that. I have also found the BelVita breakfast biscuits to be useful for someone like me who is just getting used to eating in the morning. Starting my day with breakfast is something new to me. I was known as the mom who lived on coffee and chips in my house. Bacon was a dear friend to me also. I am going to miss bacon, at least for now.

Hi Angie,
Yes, SP is better then other programs because it is free, and all the information, videos, and nutrition help, WOW. I am still working on the perfect morning smoothy. I have added yogurt and frozen beans, mixed with 0 calorie dry drink mix; I needed protein that was not bacon (my favorite protein).
Any low calorie foods you enjoy? How about Fiber-One cereal the 60 calories for a cup?

Hey Everyone!
Yes, I'm new to Sparkpeople. My name is Katrina. I live in Bend. I have 3 beautiful daughters and a grandson. I have been a single mother for about 9 years now. I am here for my health. I weigh 255 and my goal is to lose 100 lbs. I plan to take time to do it. Before I was one of those who wanted instant results and never saw them. I just want to start eating healthy and exercising normally. I have gotten in the condition of being so overweight that I cant move. My first goal is to eat right for 3 weeks and to walk atleast 10 mins each day. I know that if I change my eating habits and my exercise habits, I will see improvement in the way I feel about myself and in my overall energy level. My belief is that thru Christ I can do all things!!
