Hi everyone,

I hit send way too soon lol. Look at some of the recipes on Spark People, and you will find great healthy ideas for supper, lunch or breakfast. I love them as they give a breakdown on what you are consuming. I do kickboxing, and I walk for exercise. Walking is really good for me as it hurts too much to run anymore.

Hello from Medford. I'm 53 and on my way to getting rid of the remaining 50-60 lbs I'm over.

I am taking great strides in doing for me (for the first time in my life) as I have always been the servant and thought of others before myself -- to the detriment of my own well being sometimes. I've got the exercise portion down and under control (I'm a PODRUNNER) . Got the calories and monitoring down and under control -- but how in the world do I keep carbs/fiber down and protein/calcium/fat up... if it no one thing its another LOL 8) Did I mention I love food and trying NEW things? This week its upping the CALCIUM and lowering the SODIUM (which is in my MILK but not in my orange juice -- GO FIGURE!)!

I have no known serious health issues (other than obesity) but old injuries cause me to do more running indoors on a trampoline than outdoors (where I'd rather be). I manage to make my area quite serene with "the grandkid's starbug something or other" for atmosphere as I run in the night 8)

My DH is skinny as a rail and lives mostly on sugar/carbs/fat unless I'm forcing him to eat healthy. I watch him eat and I gain. I work out behind the couch while he sits on it to watch his latest shows or play a video game -- can ya see where I'm coming from 8)

I like to craft - mostly with any type of thread or yarn and with anything that might inspire the grandchildren. I'm young at heart (only 5 on the inside) and pretty positive most of the time -- I work a stressful job so every now and then I have to step up on the positive but I always bounce back to happy pretty fast. The crafts are mostly a side line to keep the stress in check -- I can't focus on CRAP when I'm focused on CRAFTS!!!!

Welcome Steph hope we can help you on your journey. Lots of water is the key to getting rid of the soda habit. Besides, pop makes you hungry, it actually stimulates your appetite. Nasty stuff and it causes kidney stones.

I stop at 5 cups of coffee instead of more. Drinking water more made soda not as tempting. When I was hydrated soda pop was not as tempting.

Wow that must have been super hard, But Good for you making healthy choices is hard sometimes when your use to the bad stuff for you lol...breaking the coffee habit was super hard for me as well, but it was giving me to many headaches so it had to go. Now if i could only stop drinking soda all together then i would be good to go LOL! :)

It took me a while to cut bad liquid , more than 5cups of coffee . Alcohol 5 a week instead of 2.
Sugar in tea bothers me now.

Hello, My name is Stephanie 28yrs old live in Beaverton been struggling with my weight since i had my first child, had my third child a year ago and still struggling lol. I have a hard time sticking with anything that i start, but a recent picture i saw of myself and also going for my check-up and was told i have pre-diabetes. I became scared but i still didnt have the motivation to do anything. But looking at my three beautuiful children and knowing that i cant keep up with them, that right there gave me the boost i need to get serious and get in shape. Hoping that i can get the motivation and help i need here. My goal is to lose 61 pounds I CAN DO IT :)

Welcome to the group. If you do not buy junk food or sweets, or keep them in the house, you will not eat them. Give yourself healthy options, fresh fruit is a good one. It will satisfy your sweet tooth, and when I crave something crunchy, I eat an apple or a carrot. Get the most nutritional bang for your calorie buck.

Hello, I am Madiha, and i live in Hillsboro Oregon. Just delivered a beautiful baby 6 months back, and quite out of shape. New to spark but looking forward to get great help from Spark and wonderful people here. I want to loose at least 30 pounds. I go to LA fitness approx 4 times a week. I enjoy Zumba and elliptical trainer. For me exercising (though boring) isn't much a deal, my actual problem is my junk eating habits. and specially sweet cravings .I am liking Spark's "my tracker" option, also i think seeing many individual sharing their experience will me much helpful. Well heck, I don't know if I did this when I signed up years ago... I'm 42 Live in Salem, married with 2 kids and at one point 3+ years ago, I was at 320. Everything hurt, I wasn't sleeping well and I certainly wasn't happy.
Then I had enough of feeling poorly and it has been a long slow decline to now (in a good way) I've lost 50 pounds and I'm halfway to my goal. Its been a combination of adding "normal" workouts (2 years) altering diets and behaviors via several tools (Sparkpeople and Wieght Watchers mostly) (3+ years) and now (1) year being strong enough to do Crossfit style Spartan training + heavy duty cardio workouts. That has pushed me down the last 20 pounds in a year. Its so so slow, but I have not regained any of the weight and I am stronger, faster and leaner than I have been in years, maybe forever.
One thing I have learned is that its OK to try something scary... life changing in fact.
And it sure feels good to feel good.

Amaranth works Whole grain vegetable's, whole foods. just try and get things as close to original form as you can. Log for a wile you will see different potatoes are so different. No sugar No cholesterol is what my doctor wants. My husband is a meat and potatoes man

Good Morning, I am new to sparks. Really excited to be here. Here is my condensed story. Got married 10 years ago, boom 25 lbs later, we quit smoking, boom 25 lbs later, then mini pause set in 30 lbs more, then Lyme disease, no work for over a month and 16 more lbs. My heart is still acting weird so exercise is out for now, but I can return to my waitress job next Tuesday. In the meantime, Dr, says no gluten no sugar. Cant seem to keep the calories under goal , but doing good on carbs. How does one do both? Or is that possible? I live in Coos Bay, Thanks for listening, Diane

Good morning everyone! My name is Jennifer and I live in Portland. I am 30 years old and have 3 children, ages 3, 8, and 11. I am on the journey to lose 50+ pounds (my current weight is 240). I started at about 256 and went down to around 216. I have been with Sparkpeople for a while but not very active in the discussion boards. Greetings everyone!
My name is Terrisse, but I go by Tree. I am the mother of a most amazing son, Cedric. He turned 2 this May! I am using my GI bill; going to school full time and looking for work.
My goal is to lead our family from the front. Showing my son the life that i want him to live and inherent by living it out in front of him.
During my pregnancy i struggled with both depression and domestic violence. During a no contact (for domestic violence) we got away and I have now divorced his father.
I have been making changes but have more to go! I used Sparkpeople back when i was in the Army and had great success!! I am starting again (even though now I am FAR from my fighting weight of 115)
I struggle with being able to fit in fitness with my bundle of joy (accustomed to being able to go the the gym for long periods of time)
While I am not new to fitness I feel like I am with a toddler in toe!

My goal: 55 mins per day, 385 per week, 1540 for the month

Hello, I have been a member of spark since 2006, but not active at all. I started my weight loss 2 weeks ago, and have lost 6+ lbs. I am drinking lots of water, counting my calories and staying away from sweets/sugary stuff. I have found some great youtube videos of zumba classes & enjoy trying to keep up! I can get through about the first 3 songs & then it gets hard. lol

Hi! I'm Lexxy, I'm 21, and i just joined, obviously. Anyways, I'm working to lose like, 42 lbs by Oct 7. I'm cutting ALL soda, working out 2 hours most days, and basically just living healthier. So, hi, and ... I'm looking forward to being on here and losing the weight.

Hi, I am in Sherwood Oregon and I need to lose over 120 lbs. I have not had a lot of progress in the past 2 years, I seem to get injured in my efforts. First the Achilles tendons and then most recently my back. I have slowly been converting my diet to a modified vegetarian one, with a bit of chicken and fish and am greatly inspired by Eat to live. The extra sun in the summer helps me eat better, so I am hoping to get off to a great start and then keep up the momentum. I am on a computer all day and into the night sometimes, but I know I need to build in exercise time, so that is a priority for me. I have one daughter at home, 4 cats and 4 birds.

Hello,

Susan here. I've been working on my weight loss journey for about a year now, and so far have lost 121 pounds...I think I've still got about 100 pounds to go, though I expect the next 100 to take a LOT longer than the first 100! :) I've been working out at a Curves gym for the last year and love the sense of community with seeing the same women every morning, but figure more community and help along the way certainly can't hurt, so here I am! In the last month in particular I've done some things physically that I wouldn't have thought I could do, including walking about 3 miles a few times a week, and on the 4th I made it to the top of Multnomah Falls for the first time ever!

Hello all, my Name is Heather and I just joined today. I recently saw a picture of myself and was utterly disgusted by what I saw and I have not felt that way before. I've never been perfect and never wanted to be, I was always happy being me. Last year, though, I tried to get back into doing something that had made me so happy when I was younger but I got discouraged when it wasn't as easy as I remember it. Here in the wonderful state of Oregon we have so many beautiful places to go in the summer(and winter) and to get outside and do something should be easy. Getting the motivation(and sometimes money) to do it is another thing all together. I say enough excuses!! I need to do this to save my sanity, my self image, my self worth and self esteem. I am here if anyone needs an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on but I may need the same too.

Hello fellow Oregonians. I am Neko-Len. I am 25 years old (almost 26) and I have joined this team in hopes of finding support as well as give it. I have had a constant struggle with my weight and find myself getting discouraged often. I am hoping by reading everyone's progress on here it will help keep me motivated to reach my own goals.

I am hoping to get to a healthy weight and start experience the many hiking trails, mountains, and beaches that Oregon has. :)

There is no such thing as success by doing nothing. In order to get results you have to push hard and earn them.

Welcome to the group. Look through the fitness section of spark and see if you can find the exercises that can be done from a chair. There is also chair yoga that helps a lot.

Hello all;
As you can probably tell by my username, I live in Medford. I love living in Oregon, but being disabled has definitely changed my life. I used to be very fit and was extremely active. I would ride my horse every evening and ran 5 miles every morning, but that was before my injuries. Now, I am lucky if I can walk for 15 minutes at a slow pace without being bent over in pain. Because of this, I am finding it very hard to lose the weight I've gained in the past 6 years. I was bedridden for almost 2 years, which is where I gained my weight. I am hopeful that with the trackers on SP, that I'll be able to get at least close to my old weight. I have about 25 lbs to lose and am hopeful it will happen.

Greetings! One of the reasons I'm putting fitness and weight loss as a priority in my life is to make sure that I can continue to enjoy riding my horses as I age. I want to be the old gal in her 70's or 80's still riding (that's still 20 years away, but time does fly). I've been using SP for almost one month and have benefitted quite a bit from the tracking tools.

Hi!

I am Kim. I am married, have 3 grown daughters, 2 still live at home, teenage son and nephew, I live on a small farm with cows, goats, sheep, and chickens. I live in in central western oregon. I am going back to college in the fall, hopefully. I need to lose weight and exercise more. I can work all day on our farm and taking care of the kids, but it is not all that aerobic. I can't shovel the barns out any more because of sever asthma from all the hay, so now the boys have that chore.

I need to loose 50 pounds. I hope that I will have more energy once I do.

Hello, I am 41 and new to Spark People and I this forum. I live in the Central Oregon area and have 2 kids one lives at home the other is grown and moved out. I am hoping to lose some weight and get healthy. I was part of my fitness pal, but a friend recommended I join spark people, so here I am hoping to find people with the same goals as me.

Hello! I live out around Yamhill, a country girl for sure, lol. Married, 3 almost grown kids.
We have cows, my daughters horse, some chickens, have 3 dogs & 4 cats... life is good!!
Just need to lose the extra pounds, get in shape (or at least better shape) & get healthy...
