I also agree with the drinking water at night or even herbal teas if you like those. I have found that most nights what I have done to combat the snacking is I allow myself to have one serving of yogurt, and if I have it some nights will also add fruit to it to compliment the flavors of both. Also another idea would be knowing that you don't really want to go snacking crazy, after you have the last thing you want to eat at night, I would say brush your teeth and if you can get one of the mouth rinses that you have to wait either half and hour to an hour before you can eat or drink anything and use that immediately after brushing, and after that time only allow yourself to have water. Also try to busy yourself to keep your mind off snacking, and if you see others snacking and you don't want to and don't want to be frustrated by them doing so leave the room they are in go into another room and do something to keep busy.

Welcome to Sparks People, Those night eats are the worst, I know. It may help you to drink water at night when you want to eat. At first it will cause you to get up at night but eventually your body will get use to it. At least mine did. Get those 'healthy' snacks, grapes, carrots, etc. Use the nutrition tab to find suggestions. Mom may not be willing to give up her 'snack' but it is worth a shot. If you get your own food, then find something you can eat later in the day that will fill you up for longer into the night. If you eat at night from boredom then consider changes your schedule. what is the trigger for your eating? That will help. Remember you are not on a diet, you are making lifestyle changes, don't set yourself up to fail. Do what you like not what you can tolerate. sorry this is so long, hope it helps.

Well, I am posting this message as I have am over weight and need to lose some weight and am looking for a support system. I do know how to eat good foods, but my problem is that I have a eating "spell" at night and go on a binge every night finding foods to eat. I live with my mom and she does eat well, but she does eat some snacks and that is my problem. I am so frustrated with this issue, I need some help and some suggestions.
