Welcome to the team! I think you will find lots of support on this site. I also started cholesterol meds at a young age. My levels were over 400 and my doctor asked me how long I wanted to live. I did not get off of meds completely, however I am on the lowest dose possible and numbers have been good now for several years. Sparkpeople helps keep me on track. I did manage to get off of BP medicine. Follow doctors advice and get yourself some Sparkbuddies. There are lots of us available. Good luck!

I have recently been prescribed medicine for high blood pressure and cholesterol. I'm only 39 yrs old. I have a family history full of high bp, not sure about cholesterol. I want to get healthy so I can get off this medicine. The fact that I lost my parents this yr to cancer(they were 62 and 64 yrs old!), my stepmom to a heart attack(55yrs old), father inlaw to stroke, and my pampaw (gdad) to ahlzeimers(sp?); motivates me that much more. Also, my husband had tonsil cancer this yr-it's gone! The treatment was horrible though. Life shouldn't be taken for granted and I want to take better care of myself than my parents did. It was hard to diet this yr, but I'm back on track. I just didn't really care about my health until all of this was over. Now that you know my life history, HI! emoticon
