Oh I will get back to riding no matter what. I have a few good horses that can carry my weight. I myself just will feel comfortable if I can loose a few pounds. It was never the weight that kept me off...it was the knees. I could not right because of the damaged knees and later the accident that kept me from walking. I am working on the walking now and getting the legs in shape to ride.....and if the weight comes off the more the better but trust me it will never stop me. Those dang horses have been my passion since I was a wee kid.

It's Tuesday and I was so exhausted yesterday I just never made it back to the site. I had a busy busy day. Anyway I am here willing to look around and check things out and put in a little time. I love reading all the input...and so I think a little catchup time is due. Thanks Daisy and have a wonderful day.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. Ouch Daisy 3 back surgeries, yep I think you can relate to me. In the last 5 years I have gained just over 100 lbs. My doctor keeps screaming at me to loose it. I keep screaming how when I could not walk to do anything for that much. Then I would do the only thing I could do at the time without pain EAT. Rebellion....gets us someplace right. It got me up to almost 300lbs. Prior to that I was still riding and breaking horses in my 50's. Until one decided to break me...shattered both my knees taking me through fences and for a joy ride. I ended up on my back in the woods after a branch raked me off his back. The bugger could not resist the low branches. Can you believe he is one of my most trusted horses at the time. My grand daughter rides him in the shows. I miss riding so much I can't wait to reach my goal of loosing some weight so I can get back on him this coming spring. He won't be my first stop I have my old Appy waiting for that but he is my goal.

Faith is all we have and I have faith that he and I will be a good team. He is young enough that we can grow old together.

Hi, Joanna, welcome to the team! High blood pressure, high cholesterol, yep, I've got them! I've had 3 back surgeries, so can certainly relate to your being laid up for a prolonged time. I know you will get a lot of benefit from the Spark People exercise and diet plan in your quest for better health. I always think the weight loss is just a tool to get us to the important goal of better health! We look forward to getting to know you better! Carol (Daisy443)

Hi everyone,

My name is Joanna just turned 61 in August...funny how things turn out. I recall when I was younger I always wanted to be older. If asked what my age I always added a year or so, now asked I want to drop a year or so. Hahaha! Anyway I live in Michigan on a big horse farm with my hubby and my 16 year old grandson. I not only have high blood pressure and cholesterol but am almost 100 lbs over weight. I had surgery on both knees a year ago in Sept, just days after getting out of the hospital I was in an auto accident leaving me laid up another 8 months. Now trying to get it together I am in therapy three times a week and getting on track to loose some of the weight that I gained.

I am looking forward to meeting many of you...hope you have a great day.

Hi, Linda! You came to the right place to find other people with BP, Cholesterol, etc. problems! So sorry about the cast. Can you do some upper body strength training? There are also some chair exercises you might try. I track my food to make sure I stay within my calorie range and keep the cholesterol and salt under control!
Here's a link to the chair exercise article. http://www.dailyspark.com/blog.asp?post=8_

Welcome Linda. I know what it's like to be in a hard cast with no weight bearing... and crutches. So sorry you're having problems with your foot. I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I need to have my blood work done for the cholesterol in Feb. I'm not on medicines and really don't want to be.

Again, Welcome.
