Hi Bonnie,
Thank you for such a great welcome! Your story is very inspiring and gives me hope.

I too am fitting more veggies and fruit into my meals. I am starting to prepare loads of veggies and use the "Corelle" divided-plate dinnerware. I fill the veggie section really full, then the other divisions with a portion of protein, and one of starchy veg. I eat all the veggies/fruits first so I am feeling semi-sated before I even get to "the good stuff". Then by the time I've finished my moderate portions, I am full enough that I am not tempted to seconds (which I am now putting away before I sit to eat).

It's great when we find little tricks and tips that help us in reaching our goals. I drink lots of water everyday as well, always have. Recently I stumbled upon a great program called the Gabriel Method....its a non-diet approach to weight loss and increased fitness. EFT/tapping is one of the aspects of the program that I am currently starting to follow. They also use meditations and visualizations. Between the Gabriel Method and sparkpeople.com and all you awesome sparkpeople friends, I am sure to succeed in becoming the healthier person I am meant to be.

I can so identify with you. You are absolutely right, there are so many "reasons" it seems if you conquer one, another pops up, kind of like that game "pop a mole", or whatever it was called. LOL

I began this journey almost 7 years ago, 6 1/2 with Spark People at 333 pounds.

I lost 70 pounds and maintained for a couple of years, then came several years of acute pain, and 3 major surgeries in a 2 year period. Because of being here on Spark People, I have kept 40 sometimes 50 pounds off, going up and down, of course, but better than I have ever done before.

Now, I am almost a year out on the left knee surgery, and in Oct will be a year on the right knee.

I am able to be much more active, but still having huge issues with food.

I think that this challenge will help me keep accountable for the exercise, and I am also making an effort to eat more fruits and veggies, I always drink lots of water, and fighting the good fight as best I can.

I really feel that SP and all of the friends here have saved me from regaining all of the weight and more.

I just have to do this one day at a time, and do it as best I can.

I believe if we all do this together, we can help each other.

I've been on sparkpeople.com for a long time but never very consistent. I am excited to be joining in on the 10 Minutes of Fitness to help me learn to get some fitness in each day. emoticon

I currently weigh 324 lbs and have been overweight since the age of 6. Years of dieting and gastroplasty in 1987 only to gain it all back after 4 years of living at a "normal" weight, proves its not about the food but my emotional,mental, physical, and spiritual health. emoticon

I look forward to getting to know others in this group. emoticon

I haven't been exercising much because I've been sick since the last week of April... 13 weeks and counting. First, 6 weeks of my first major bout of migraines, since then bad asthma and bronchitis. This will be a good habit to re-form and try to get my life back.

Day 1 for me. I did 10 minutes of biking. I haven't sit on my bike for about a year. Now I'm saying Oh, Oh, Oh. but day 1 is done.


At the end of the day, be able to look back and say "I did my best today."
