Hi, I'm Gail 70, from Southern Ontario. I've lost 26 lbs. so far with SP, and have stayed with the program for 3 1/2 years. I'm doing great with my cardio, but needed to make a commitment to get in more ST. This seems to be the logical next step toward losing the last 15 lbs. and reaching my goal of 150 lbs. by March 31, 2015.
Looking forward to adding to my group of wonderful Spark Friends through this team.

Got a new rowing machine on Wed. and have used it each day so far. I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow (on a motorcycle) so I'll do the best I can with walking and eating. Theresa, you're handling the tough things life has thrown you very well in my opinion.

My name is Bonnie, and I feel at home with those of you who have posted here.
I participated in a weight loss study at a local university in Oct of 2007, when that was over, I joined Spark People in May of 2008. The philosophy here was right in tune with that of the weight loss study. Between the two, I lost 70 pounds.
I maintained that loss for a couple of years, until my chronic back issues became acute and there was no relief from the 24/7 pain.
Had an MRI, went to a surgeon, (very highly regarded surgeon, so I knew I was in good hands), and he told me I had the worst back he had ever seen. I know it sounds funny, but it was very good for me to hear that.
I had suffered with my back for well over 30 years, and you know that people who do not have back issues always think you are being a big baby. This way, I was validated, and knew for myself that the excruciating pain was not me being a baby. On Oct 3, 2011, I had a 4 level fusion in my lumbar region. I had 5 herniated discs. The surgery took six hours.
It took a long time to recover, but the pain was so much less as soon as I woke from surgery that it was so worth it. During the year and 1/2 of recovery, my knees went out, and again I was in terrible pain. Pretty discouraging and boy was I ANGRY. I was so looking forward to getting my life back, NOT to having two more surgeries.
I have a friend who is a scrub nurse at a hospital, and she again recommended a knee surgeon whom she knew to be as good as my back surgeon.
On Aug 20, 2013, I had my left knee totally replaced, then on Oct 15, I had my right knee totally replaced. Three major surgeries in a two year period was tough physically and emotionally.
I have been up and down in my weight, but have kept off 40 of the 70 pounds that I originally lost. I have to admit, I am struggling with food and have been for a few months.
I think I am about 10 pounds higher than my tracker.
So, I am joining this challenge, and all of you because I know that we can help each other.
Because of this site, and my Spark Friends, I have not gained all of the weight back, and then even more as was my habit before this journey which began almost 7 years ago.
I rode my stationary bike for 25 minutes today. I bought fresh fruit and fresh veggies from the fruit market yesterday,and am enjoying them. Last night, after having a day when I ate very healthy food, I had a binge. Very frustrating, but when I came to Spark today and found this thread, I felt much more hopeful.

My name is Theresa and I first started with Spark after I had lost 70 lbs in 2009. Then I got away from it and was diagnosed with MS in 2010 and got very depressed and gained back 50 lbs then I lost my baby sister who had just turned if i remember correctly 29 a week before she died I pulled up my bootstraps and thought if I'm gonna keep feeling sorry for myself I'm gonna end up in the grave beside her so Feb 1st 2013 I rejoined Spark and that first yr I lost 42 lbs but in Jan 2014 my MS kicked my butt again and I have gained back 20 lbs so I joined this group to not only keep myself motivated to move everyday to lose the remaining weight but also to keep my muscles toned to keep the MS at bay. I am now doing physical therapy twice a week bc my muscles got very weak so I want to strengthen them again and keep them strong.
I know how it goes too! I lost 40 with Spark and put 20 back on. I now have 10 of those off, and working to get the rest - and then get on with getting to my goal.. I have a long way to go, but every day is a step closer!!!

My name is Bob and I have been in and out of Sparkpeople since 2009. It wasn't until last July when I got serious. Numerous health issues including the need to have both knees replaced and the surgeon saying that he couldn't do it unless I lost 100 pounds. So I got serious. I have lost 103 lbs since I came back last year and working hard at losing it. I don't have the full support of my family, but they help somewhat. So I am working hard to get back to where I was when I got married in 1976 which is 177 lbs. I still have about 100+ lbs to go, but I will do it this week.

I am a long, long time yo-yoer. I have been with SP for 3 years now and still struggle with inconsistency. All my 2 steps forward, 2 steps back leave me standing in the same place I started. Pretty silly journey if I visualize that. I joined Spark Guys team because I love how positive and realistic he is. I brush my teeth every day. Need to make 10 min. of exercise everyday a habit too.
