There are a lot of really supportive people here, so enjoy exploring and getting to know everyone. You might want to check out the Weekly Challenge team as well...it focuses on specific time limited challenges in lots of areas. This weeks challenge is eating freggies, complex carbs, and lean protein each day. Also working through the Mind Over Body lessons to help control emotional eating. Also lots of very supportive people there. One hint...limit the number of teams you jump into as it can get overwhelming quickly with the email notifications and different challenges to track.

Hello, I'm new to SparkPeople. I am a 40-something female, married 12 yrs to my high school sweetheart of 26yrs. We don't have any kids except Nannette, my 2yr old mixed terrier.
I am looking forward to being healthy & happy with myself again. I have too "many serious illnesses for someone my age" according to my doctor's, so I finally decided to get my rear in gear & lose some weight.
I have to lose at least 150 lbs. I know that's a lot of weight but I'm looking at it as 1 lb at-a-time. My short-term goal is to lose 20-30 lbs by December 31, 2012. I've already lost 8lbs since I've changed my diet 1 mth ago! WooHoo!!!
Thanks in advance for all the encouragement...I really need it. Looking forward to meeting my goals & hope to make some friends along the way with all of you.
