Grannie1078 - We are so glad you have joined us. You have had great success so far, and it will continue. You can check with your physical therapist about some exercise, but I would also suggest checking out the area on SP for people with limited mobility. You might be able to adapt some of what is offered. Any movement is a start and will help you keep the right mindset. Looking forward to getting to know you!

Grannie1078 you have had a rough time and it is time to focus on you. Instead of eating why not take a walk or have a nice relaxing bubble bath. You can do it! Sandy
A day at a time and I will reach my goal. I am not perfect but I will forgive myself for the mistakes I make. Life is full of choices and sometimes we don't always make the best ones but that's what makes us human.
Welcome to the team! I am sorry about all the deaths in your family. You have been through some rough times. I am impressed, though, with your stick -to-itiveness. You are doing a great job despite all your setbacks. You will be able to find support with the teams here at SparkPeople.
As for exercise, hum... You've got both upper body AND lower body injuries. Does playing checkers for 10 minutes count as an exercise? There are some sitting at a desk exercises on SP. Maybe you could do some lower body exercises from that program and some one arm exercises with a 3 lb weight for upper body. You can also ask physical therapy for some suggestions, if you're REALLY interested. But, I think you'll be OK for a few weeks if you just keep your calorie count at 1,200 cal.
Hi, I'm a 57 year old woman who has decided to take control of my life and start living again.....In the last 3 years life has been rough, my husband passed away , my stepdaughter 6 months later, my mother-in-law 8 months later, my father- in- law 6 months after that and most recently my brother passed away 3 months ago.....yeah rough, but it's time for me to get up and get going....I joined here in May after coming back from dealing with family "stuff" when my brother passed to find that I had lost 18lbs....I was shocked! Got back on the scale and thought to myself " this can't be right maybe it needs a new battery...so I replaced the battery and to my amazement I really had lost 18lbs and decided that was a great start for me and I wanted to continue on a new journey - I continued to keep myself busy and eat better and had lost a total of 30lbs before starting on Sparkpeople.. I love this site, it makes me accountable and I have found so many inspirational stories that it has been pretty easy to stay focused :) but... all of a sudden a monkey wrench was thrown into the mix... I had fallen and fractured my collar bone and sprained my ankle along with bruising myself up pretty good....so I was back to square one, no exercising and not able to fix my meals.....it has been a month and a half I've lost another 10lbs since I started this journey but am having a little bit of a problem the last few days as I haven't been eating the "right" foods - although I haven't gained any weight back, I am just feeling bloated and out of sorts and find myself getting over whelmed with the situation and because I am an emotional eater I find that I am having a VERY hard time staying focused on my long term goal, I want to lose a total of 80lbs .... I guess I just need a little pep talk instead of a piece of pie lol.
