Welcome to the team and to Spark People. This is a great site. There are so many tools and resources that are helpful and easy to use. I have found the trackers (especially the nutrition tracker) to be my greatest ally. I started on this site almost 5 months ago and I have learned so much about my eating habits. This does not necessarily mean that you have to give up all treats. I do allow myself some treats on occasion. I also know that if I keep it in the house I will indulge too often, so I compromise.
The team is here to offer support and encouragement on this journey.

Welcome Jeanne! I highly recommend you start with just 1 goal a time, each day at a time so you do not get overwhelmed and give up. I quit smoking 8 years ago, then 6 years ago I quit drinking sodas and drinking water instead, than 3 years ago I had surgery on my knee so I could begin to get moving again, and now 4 months ago I began seriously working on losing weight. So far I have lost 22 1/2 pounds and find myself enjoying making healthy food choices and enjoying eating fruits and veggies. I love food. I would so much rather eat my calories than drink them, hence why I only drink water with a very rare occasional beer or glass of wine. And since I cannot stand to be hungry or feel like I am starving (which makes dieting really suck) I eat much more fruits and veggies so that I feel full and get to eat more without exceeding my calorie goals =)
Hello, I am new to Spark People as of about 2 hours ago. My name is Jeanne and I want to lose an overall 160 pounds. I am tired of always being the fat kid and I am afraid I will not be here for my kids. I love my carbs and sweets and have a hard time giving them up however I know that it is time. I am also a smoker and working on giving that up as well!! I have more information on my page so please check it out.
