I can't count the number of times I've had to Google facts to argue with his insanity.

There has been much study done on exercise. Many of the fitness and health officials now say that doing exercise in 10 minutes 3 or more times a day is just as good as doing it all at once. You ask him to google it or to go to sites such as KP.org. I know that Kaiser Permenente has, for a couple of years now, recommends a few 10 minute intervals for individuals who do not have the time to do 30-60 minutes of exercise in one block.

I just had a conversation with my mother's husband. He is a bit of a know it all. He said if you don't work out an hour a day, you won't lose any weight. He likes to think of himself as a scholar. Who has an hour to workout? It takes about a minute to do 15 crunches. Using his rational those 15 crunches don't have any effectiveness. Then why does my stomach muscles feel tighter? People like Mr know-it-all are poisonous. You can't reason with him. I tried explaining that 10 minutes of doing anything is better than doing nothing.

Hi Desiree;

If you are having difficulty sticking with a program then you need to change it up. Find a few different programs that you will enjoy. You can change up every day or every week or every month. The most important thing is to get yourself moving.

Doing 10 minutes is a great place to start. If you do 3 10 minute sessions it is the same as doing 1 30 minute session.

Good Luck.

Hi team!
My name is Desiree and I`ve been a Spark member since June of 2009. I have lost 23lbs (I had lost more but gained some back from overeating and lack of exercise). I lost the majority of this weight by scaling back on my calories to meet my healthy range but I want to work out. I have real issues getting motivated, and keeping with a program. I need to workout in order to achieve the body results I want and I hope that being apart of this team will fuel me to start out small and turn exercise into a full fledged fire in my daily life. I`m thin now but I`m not toned and anyone who has lost some weight and hasn`t achieved what they want knows why. I need to build muscle and burn fat so here I am. Starting small. Hoping big.
