My name is Amy and I was diagnosed with UC about three years ago. Seems like the general trend that the doctors took a while trying to figure out what was wrong... it was no different with me.
I was a very healthy weight and in generally good shape before I started flaring, but now the restricted diet and the meds have made it very difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Hard workouts tend to make me have abdominal cramps, and all the foods that used to be "healthy" just seem to be exactly the ones I can't eat.
Here's hoping SparkPeople can help me get back on the track to healthy living.
Good Morning Everyone,
I am 49 and I found out I had Crohn's disease about 6 years ago. How I found out was having this awful pain in my abdomen. I have had only a couple flairs, could have had more over the years just didn't know that it was Crohn's. Since then I have been doing ok off medication now and hope not to have to go back.
I can relate to GAIAMOTHER when they talk about raw fruits and vegetables; mostly vegatables because I am eating more of them to lose weight and its hard to do when it makes you feel rotten. Don't know the answer to how to make it better because to lose weight I have to eat more of those lovely green vegetables.
Well good luck to everyone and it was very nice to meet you.
Hi my name is Aimee. I am a 32yo married mother of 5. I am a nursing student, and currently work part time at a construction company and Per Diem as a CNA in LTC.
I suffer from a rare form of colitis, it is a microscopic form called lymphocytic colitis. I seem to have a flare up issues with too much raw fruits ands veggies. I am trying to find an even balance.
Good luck to evryone, and nice to meet you!
Fall down seven times, get up eight.
If you think you can or you think you can't, you're right!
