Hi Nicole - I'm Joanne. I've had 3 surgeries now and am just trying to recuperate from the last one. I need to lose 30 pds. That's my goal. Glad that there is a C&C Team with people that have a similar condition and can understand what we are going through !

I am with CCFC (Canada) and am on the committee as well. My husband is a great pledge earner every year and I help organize the walk.

Thanks for your response Tony. It's always interesting to hear other people's stories and how differently Crohn's effects different people. I'm also interested in finding out about different medications - I have a friend on remicade who swears by it! Although I've had a lot of surgeries in a short amount of time, my last one was over 8 years ago. So knock on wood...

My mother is involved with CCFA as well and is on the board of her local chapter. My husband ran the Team Challenge Half Marathon last summer in Napa (what a great trip!) and I would really like to find a way to get involved as well. The walk in Arizona sounds great!

Great to meet you and I look forward to talking with you on this board!

Hello'
Nicole, wow that's a lot of surgeries in a very short amount of time.
How have you been doing since then? I to don't really have to watch what I eat, to a point, ground meat seems to give me problems along with one of my favorites, pizza, mmmm.
I was diagnosed in 95, I was 25 I remember having problems long before that. I have not had any surgeries, but that is because my Crohns started in my stomach. It has spread throughout my small intestines over the years.
Well Nicole I hope that being apart of this team will inspire you to eat healthier and attain your weight and health goals. Being active in your health is so important for everyone, especially those of us suffering from IBS.
My wife and I are active with the Crohns and Colitis foundation, and will be participating in the take steps walk in April in Phoenix AZ.
We look forward to getting to know you, and share ideas and stories with you.
Thank you,
Tony

I'm Nicole. I was diagnosed in 1993 at the age of 13. I've had 5 surgeries to removed affected areas of my small intestine and have been hospitalized on several occasions other than my surgeries. Luckily though, when I'm not in the hospital, I'm feeling overall pretty well. I take Imuran every day, but I don't really need to watch what I eat. I have good and bad days. I'm trying to lose 20 lbs. but mostly just become more healthy and toned.

Nice to meet you all.
