UGH....I'm having another bout of it now too! :( this is my 3rd since November '10 and I HATE it!! The meds are so hard on my body!! The doc thinks we caught it early enough this time and only has me on amoxy-clav, hoping this lower dose will do the trick so I don't end up in bed for another week from the reaction of cypero/flagula (sp?) combo wanting to kill myself! I've been faithfully tracking my food since my bout in February so I'm puzzled as to what could have triggered it......nothing out of the ordinary and tons of fiber. At least I know I'm not alone in this..........

Dammit! I was doing so well, and I still got a fun bout with this! I figured out from reading over my food tracker, that peaches is what seems to have set me off!

I have been MIA for the last few days because of this. I just feel run down and all over blah. . . .
Hate the antibiotics

I found out over the summer after having severe left side pain that I had diverticulitis. I have not had much help with the diet, I looked on Mayo Clinics web site to see what foods were bad & guess what they said nuts & seeds were ok now. My doctor just said no corn, popcorn but if something bothered me to not eat it. Since starting spark & tracking everything, I have done fairly well. However, does anyone else out there have lots of gas from this? It seems to be all the time, I can't find a food that sets it off.

I too have diverticulosis. I was diagnosed in '09. M y doc didn't say anything about rich foods, but did tell me to stay away from abrasive foods, ie, popcorn, corn, nuts seeds, and anything else that is hard to digest. Now, for myself, I have found that citrus fruits and pineapple will set my stomach off. And it can be really painful. Now I am normally really good with watching what I eat, especially since I have Diabetes, Hypothyroidism, and Diverticulosis. (yep, I am a medical mess; and I'm 35!). I try to eat foods higher in fiber and drink lots of fluids when I am doing good, and when I feel like a flare-up is coming, I was recommended to eat a very low fiber diet and stick to basically fluids.

I too have ended up in the ER too many times. The last time was Oct '10. Ended up being admitted for 4 days! Horrible. But had a bad case of Diverticulitis, colitis, and Salmonella poisoning. What a rough time! And I will have to admit, wasn't too bad having my first colonoscopy. Not that I planned on it, but because I was really sick.

I am trying very hard not to have a flare up again, (just because I hate taking the Cipro and Flagyll). So, definitely, any one else that wants to keep track of foods, count me in.

Naomi

Hi J, I am like you, with no stones. and I thought this was a "dead group" But I figured, with 87 members, someone might answer. And here you are. I was in the ER on July 4 2009. ALL DAY and night, missed the fireworks. emoticon Then later on a colonoscopy. They found No stones, No diverticulitis, but an abnormal functioning gall bladder anyway! So she said, I have diverticulosis. No more rich foods. and if I continue having episodes Then she will say surgery. I am 64 and have other physical ailments going on, so I don't want surgery. I did good last week in tracking my food. Let's keep in touch to keep on track, OK?

Hi there, I joined this group just a little while ago but thought it must be a dead group as I received no posts.

I am like you, what to eat and not.....had two taken out after a stay in hospital but noncancerous so all good there. But I am regularly on antibiotics with flare ups ouch.

Do you have that sort of problems as well?

I must say the better I eat the better I am. Some say dont eat nuts or pips etc but I wasnt told that at all. So go figure. LMK if you find anything out as I would like to know also

I didn't think this was anything to worry about. So when they told me 2009 I had it, I was going to WW and was treating myself to Good Healthy Food. Then I stopped WW and guess what? Found out yesterday, I had another episode Diverticulosis. Now I am ready to do what I need to do. She said If I continue having episodes, I will need to get surgery. NO SURGERY Wanted. Anyone here that has good luck with eating correctly? Thanks
