I would suggest trying out some yoga. It is good for building up your lung capacity and keeping them open plus it works on stability and flexibility which would help you in any other exercise you choose to do.

Hello, my name is Becky and i have always been real active, well that is until my industrial asthma started messing with my walking and stuff. I am hoping to lose some weight and get back on the walking agenda, to help my breathing, because i know being obese is bad for me and extra bad for my breathing. I can take all the help and encouragment that people can give. This diet thing is foreign to me , since i never dieted in my life until i was over 50, at which point i lost 50, quit what ever i was dpoing and gained almost all of it back, only now ot is mainly in my middle. what are other good middle exercises that breathing impaired people can do? Would love any pointers anyone can give. and thank you,,,,,,,,I am pleased with this site after only 2 days
