I'm DeAnna but most people call me Dee or Dee Dee. I'm a Christian, a daughter, a wife and a mother. I've been on Spark for sometime but about a year and a half ago rejoined. I lost 40 pounds in 2013 and fell sick in November which put weight loss on hold. Before this happened, I felt like God was calling for a something deeper from me with my lifestyle change (I don't like the word diet haha). I haven't really gained weight since my illness but I haven't lost any either. With His guidance, I know I can break my plateau but more so I can be what He wants me to be.
I found this group today because what better support than others similar to you in faith and possibly with the same weight loss struggles and triumphs.
Thanks Everyone!

Christian, Daughter, Wife, Mom.

I'm ready for a lifestyle change to better health. I have a long way to go but am ready to get there.

Hi . My name is Debbie. I used to be on this site a few years ago after my dad passed on, then stopped for quite a while. I am back here as I am starting/reflecting/creating/finding my journey, my passion, what is meaningful and how do I truly make a difference. So, I am using this site as a tool for my journey as I explore, uncover these in and for my life. At this time, I am keeping a lot of personal information/story to myself until I feel it is the right time, avenue, in which to share. I look forward to getting to know people here. Thanks,

BE YOURSELF! BE YOU! You can do it!

Hello everyone! I am 32 year old wife and mother of 3 wonderful kids. Currently I live in SC where I was born and raised. I homeschool our children, serve as a board member for Operation Rudolph (a local non-profit organization that provides Christmas for needy children and families), volunteer with the Be a Voice Network, and serve as a bi-monthly contributor to a year round homeschooling site.

I grew up very active always at a healthy weight, indulging as most kids/teenagers do on occasion. After three pregnancies and three c-sections and a lack of self concern for the future and what "not" watching how much I gained during pregnancy or trying to get it back off, I gained back up to almost my end pregnancy weight.

I want to lose this weight for more than the superficial reasons. I want to lose it because I know my body is a temple and I can't possibly be the disciple God calls me to be if I am not physically able. I also know that I cannot be the wife and mother I should be if I am overweight and unhealthy.

Therefore, I look to change my outlook. I know what foods are good and bad for me, I think most of us do. My will power is where I falter. My choice is to rely on Philippians 4:13 and trust that God will provide the strength I need to be the woman I am meant to be for Him and His kingdom.

I am looking for others to communicate with and help hold me accountable and vice versa. People I can be honest with and not feel ashamed when I falter. People who will lift me up with the same outlook on life and know they are relying on the same loving God I am.

Hi Everyone,

I am Michelle. I am 48 and have been married to a wonderful Christian man for 15 years. We do not have any children - it was not in God's plan for us. Although it was hard to accept at first, I realized that if the One who loves me knows what is best for me, then who am I to disagree. And God has always proven faithful. In the past year, my husband and I have really looked at our stewardship in different areas and found that we fell way short. The first area we focused on was our finances. We were spending as we pleased and living pretty much paycheck to paycheck. Now that we have made changes there, we want to focus on being better stewards of our bodies. I know my weight is nowhere near where it is meant to be and want to honor God there as well. I recently started using SparkPeople and love it! I look forward to getting to know all of you.

~~ Michelle ~~

Don't waste your time with "could've," "would've" or "should've." Focus on "can," "will," and "do."

Time will pass no matter what .... will I be closer to or farther from my goals

It’s not that some people have willpower and some don’t. It’s that some people are ready to change and others are not. Finally, I am ready to change!

Hi Bauslady

Sounds like you've been through a really tough time and, you're right, your dad wouldn't want you to go through what he's been through. I find Spark People brilliant. I go in the café a lot as well, and some of the other forums like the nutrition one are brilliant if you need advice about food. The dieticians get back with answers really quickly.

Hope to see you all over the site!!

Hi. I'm Tammy. Joined SP about 4 weeks ago. I have been doing great so far with trying to obtain a healthier lifestyle. SP was recommended by one of our wellness coaches where I work that is supporting me through my efforts of losing weight, increasing my activity level and living a healthier lifestyle. I have struggled with weight gain since I graduated high school many years ago. My father passed away back at the end of March. He had a lot of health issues from being overweight and having diabetes. He was on dialysis for about 4-5 years, had vascular issues related to his diabetes causing amputation of some of his toes and part of his feet and was using a wheelchairs as his main means of getting around. He was not allowed to ambulate except very short distanced due to trying to get his wounds to heal on his feet from surgeries. He was in and out of the hospital numerous time over the last year and a half of his life. He finally passed away from complications from his diabetes. This is one of my main motivations for wanting a healthier lifestyle. This is what my dad would want for me, not to have to go through what he did. I will succeed at it this time for me as well as for him.

Hi, I'm Faith. I've been on SP for 2 years or so but decided to have a revamp of my teams! I'm a Christian - a member of a Pentecostal Church in the West Midlands in England. I love Jesus and love the Word of God. There's so much in God's word that I'm still seeking to press into. Oh, and I've still got about 40lb that I'd like to lose!

Hello: I would like to become involved with some other "Sistas" in Christ. I am Canadian living in southern Ontario. Like many of you, I have many roles. I work full-time and have received a 25 year service award. In my family, I am a wife, daughter, sister, mother, nana, aunt etc. My Christian faith is so very important to me. I go to a great church where I do my volunteering. I like to think that the Holy Spirit leads me and guides me throughout my journey in life. I am a lifelong learner who has been through a 2 year Mentoring program at church which was the bomb! Now I am mentoring a co-worker at work with the same tools. Anyway I am joining to interact with other members of Sparkpeople who believe in Jesus too! I have lost 46 pounds - some on my own and now with Sparkpeople - I love this website.

I am Theresa. I am a mom of 2 kiddos (ages 6 and 5). I am a teacher at a middle school.
God healed me of cancer last year and now am trying get my life back on track, make myself healthy.

I have become pretty frustrated with what the medicine that I have to take has done to me. I have not been as active as I like and I have not been eating well. So that adds up and the pounds have found me.

I am looking forward to getting back on track. Losing weight forever with the help of God.

Oh, MomDecorates - I'm right there with you, sister! Life is overwhelming at times. I remember those times when my mom was failing and we were all pulling together to care for her in her last years as we all struggled with her dementia and how to best server her and the Lord during that time. I, too, have a somewhat weakened support system - Fantastic sister & brother-in-law that have been supporting me financially through a time of unemployment and now under employment but I just don't want to burden them with any more of my life drama; son who is a recovering alcoholic (2 years sober - YAY!) who has major depression so is somewhat fragile; daughter with personality disorder and her two kids who live with me and are completely financially dependent on me... I could go on, but what's the point?

Through this all I keep reminding myself that God does have a plan for this mess I call my life, and although I certainly don't have the strength to cope with it all - HE DOES! I just have to learn how to surrender it all to him - ON A DAILY BASIS.

Thanks for this reminder that we all have a place in His plan, including supporting our sisters in Christ!

Hi, I'm Elizabeth. I, too, am 50 something (51 in March), have also been off and on SP for a few years, and have also struggled with my weight (25-30 lbs) at 5'2" tall. I, too, seem to carry my weight fairly well, but the last year have seemed to widen at the hips and backside a bit more than I prefer. I am anxious to drop my weight, because I now have officially been diagnosed with high blood pressure (152/100 from my recent physical with a new doc---so yes I was a bit nervous.) He mentioned a water pill just when I started to get my water under control (you know, the onset of menopause and all.) I am Christian, but realize I've been trying to do things my own way instead of leaning on Jesus. I've always had issue with not really knowing how to 'let go'. Lord, Help Me To Let Go And Lean On You. I pray this SparkTeam is the beginning of the support I need, for my usual support system is falling apart. My mother is aging and apologizes for not being able to be the mom she used to be. My brother is taking care of her, so his hands are full, too. DH is very dear to me, but has trouble understanding many of my issues (too close for comfort?) My closer friends have their hands full, too, and are limited in what they can offer relationally. Well, that was a mouthful! Glad I found this Team! May God Bless us all!

Phil 4:15 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Hey, Jennie - WELCOME!

I've haven't been active on SP for a while, but have gotten back on track as of 2/28. I've justed started a weight loss program at U of M metabolism clinic. I, too, have struggled for quite a while and am definitely an emotional eater. Why can't I figure out that God is the solace I need - not chocolate! Jesus is the friend that I keep seeking elsewhere! He keeps trying to remind me (and today he has used you for that reminder), but somehow I keep trying to avoid this basic truth!.

I'll be praying for you!

Hi Julie;-)

It has been a rough winter!!!

I'm new to SP too. I found the challenges make it easier to navigate the site. I am doing the Official SP healthy cooking challenge and the Official 'Eat Up, Slim Down' Challenge right now. Once I have those habits mastered, I'll do another one. The official SP challenges are four week programs that have lots of great resources and specific goals for you to master.

Anyways, I am Callie and I have 50 lbs to lose. I need specific goals or else I fall off track. My husband is trying weight watchers, which he really likes. just an fyi....

Hi, I'm Julie, this is my first post to any team board, I'm still finding my way around the community of Sparkpeople. Any help would be appreciated. Anyway, I'm a 50 year old women, who has always struggled with my weight. Although I'm short, I carry it well, I'm about 25-30 lbs over weight. I've been a member of SP since 2008, but not consistent. It's been a rough winter this year and one day I realized that my clothes weren't fitting. 😞, so I'm back at it. I really need to get fit, as my husband and I are moving to Costa Rica this summer to do mission work. I REALLY need to get into my clothes, new ones are Not an option. Thanks!

Hi, my name is Jennie ( as my user name indicates lol) I am new to the website and I am looking for some encouragement on my journey. This looks like a great place to start :) I am a mom of 4 ages 4-10 and I am a momma who loves Jesus! I have been struggling with my weight for a few years now. I have lost and gained a couple times but this time God has really been talking to me about WHY that happens. I tend to emotionally eat and use food as a friend and an escape... sigh... I have created such bad habits through that cycle and I am leaning on Him to help me change and hopefully some of you will be a help as well :)

Hi DELTAGIRL!

You are in the right place! Right here on the message boards is where you connect with people. You might see some people you have something in common with or that you want to get to know. You can go to their Spark Pages to get to know more about them, message them, and friend them!

If you want to huddle, just look on the right side of the screen right now under the Team Stream. At the bottom there will be a little red box where you can go to the huddle wall.

Have a great weekend!!

Making progress!

I'm pretty new, too, AND I always gain my weight back. One thing I like about SP is that they stress making small changes slowly so that they stick. So, I'm giving it a shot!

Hello ladies!
I'm Rachael, 29 years old, married, mother of 2 kids (daughter age 4 - almost 5! - and son age 3). I work full time as a registered nurse in an ICU, and somewhere in the day to day craziness of life I've gained about 20 pounds since having my last baby in November 2010. I place blame on many things in my life, but ultimately I know it's because of my poor diet and lack of exercise!
I was saved in August 2011, and I now know that God is on my side and is going to help me through this journey. I vow to give Him all the glory as I make progress, because I know that I can't do it alone. :)

Looking forward to getting to know you all, and good luck to everyone!

Hi ya'll! I am a young 60-something wife, mom & grandmom who wants to get healthy after several years of a resolved illness. The illness hindered getting any exercise most days and between that and the meds prescribed (and going through meno all the while) I picked up lots of weight! I want to lose over 100 pounds. I have charted it out and know I have a good year + ahead of me. I also know I cannot do this without acknowledging that Jesus took my infirmities to the cross and He died for them as well as my sins. He got the victory and so can do this through His strength! I also would like to be a part of this team for encouragement and to encourage. Today is my first day and I am excited to begin! emoticon

I am retired and have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. I taught school for 20 years. I dealt with learning disabilities. Then I worked for AT&T for 7 years. Right now I am interested in arts and crafts, reading, and the computer. I have a lot of weight to lose and am counting on the support I get here to lose it. I started my weight lose journey in 2012. I lost about 80 pounds and got stuck. Then I found Spark People in November 2013. I have started losing weight again-23 lbs. Also it has helped I bought the Spark tracker and have been really excited about using it. I can't wait to get to my computer and watch it sync to see how much exercise I have done. Happy to be on this team. Shelba

Hi everyone! I'm Camy and I'm a fiction author with Zondervan, Guideposts, and Love Inspired Suspense. I've been off of SparkPeople for about a year, but I'm back now to lose weight and train for the Honolulu Marathon in December 2014. I bought a Spark Activity Tracker and it's great! I've also been really encouraged and motivated lately by The One Day Way by Chantel Hobbs--I love how she really delves into the mental challenges of weight loss, and I hope it'll help me lose weight for good this time. I also love to knit, I lead a worship team at church, and I'm a staff worker with our church youth group. And I have a very butt-headed dog! :) Nice to meet everyone here!

Hi. I'm Amanda. I'm 30 and a mother of three. This year is going to be a year of change for me. I'm currently in the middle of a divorce. I'm only 11 months away from getting an Associates degree. I have found the love of my life. I want a new body to go with all the change. I don't care if I'm never a size 8, I just want to stop aching and creaking at 30!

Hi ! Back to lose that last bit! Maintained for about 3 years, then slowly ( think that is the age thing) I started creeping back up. So before that gets crazy, here I am again because I know this works! Plus to lose that last 10pounds I never did.

Hi! My name is Michelle and I'm from Southwest Colorado. emoticon I will be 50 in September 2015! I would like to lose 82 lbs. by then. I don't have the money to join a gym or go on some expensive diet plan. I haven't worked since 2010. I was going to school (in hopes of going into a nursing program) but wasn't cut out for it. I've been taking care of my mom since. These last few 4 months have been more demanding. I just pray that I am successful at losing weight this time.

Hi, my name is Davina, started today on the 21 day fast per a challenge from my husband after a text message from a ministry we are involved in. I have found lots of conflicting information on what I can eat and not eat, but thats ok, will just do the best I can. I am short, 4'11" and heavy at 211lbs, and love this plan to get closer to God and grow while losing weight for my health and to build a better temple for the Lord. . .Maybe because I am doing this for multiple reasons, I will stick with it and actually accomplish my goal, hoping and planning to stick with this diet, log daily into SP, start some type of daily exercise and read/study the Bible daily. . .

Hi!!
My name is Nikki and I am starting my weightloss and fitness journey again. I am a mother of four boys (so much energy) and a wife of a great hubby (my heart, more energy). I have gained way too much weight and I figured I needed extra encouragement along the way. What better way to get that encouragement than from my sisters in Christ! I am excited and determined....(Dr's said I have MS but I'm not satisfied with that).

Hi everyone,

My name is Kathy, I have been on Spark for a long time, almost 6 yrs. I believe. With The Lord and SPs tools I have lost over 100 lb., have maintained (or been in a plateau) for 2 yrs. I'm looking to reach goal weight in 2014.

I'm glad to meet with other Christian women!

Hi, I'm Beth and I'm not new to SP, just finally plugging into the community aspect of it. I joined SP to help develop a healthy lifestyle that included healthy eating, fitness and consistent study of scripture. I got married in August and have had trouble staying on track through the transition to married life. I'm excited to get to know other Christian women on SP and both encourage and be encouraged on our journeys to our healthiest selves.

Hi :)

My name is Kimberly, but I go by Kimmie. I am a returning member. I created a SparkPeople account over a year ago, but, once again, I got off track in dieting, as well as with my faith and going to church, all in the mix of school, work, and other things. I turned 21 in August and I am determined to get back on track and stay for good this time. I'm doing this for me and my health, although I have hopes of having a family of my own in the future. I want this for them, as well. I'd love to get involved in support groups and build more friendships who are in the same situation (or even different situations) and be a motivator and friend. I'm so excited about the future and I can't wait to achieve my goals all while continuing to build my relationship with God.

Don't lose hope!

Good morning team,

I have been struggling with both my weight and my relationship with God for a while now. It seemed that at every turn there was something blockinh my path to both. I have been away from SparkPeople for a while now and I don't believe it's pure chance that I find myself back here and find this group all at once. Thanks in advance for your support. I pray that I can find the strength in Him to affect positive change in myself. emoticon

Hi all! I joined this team because having worked hard on my weight loss these last few weeks I realise I have neglected my spiritual life. So I'm thinking I want to work on "the disciplines" and streak some, as that seems to be working with my diet, I figure it will work with my spiritul habits too. I will also try and read about the disciplines over the next few weeks too.

Thank you Jenna 3,
I live in Spencer County Kentucky and love my town and my husband says I go one mile to go to our grocery store and I am gone an hour. That is being blessed with community that I love and know so many folks in the county from the churches.
Thank you for the encouragement. Have a blessed day.

Welcome, Boni! I'm Jenna from North Carolina. It's good to have you here with us. I'm curious, what part of Kentucky are you in? I travel out to Martin County once a year to work on a mission.

You have a great attitude and your trust in God is a great tool on this journey. I know together we can travel this journey and change!

God bless,

Hi my name is Boni and am glad to join a team where we all love the Lord and can encourage one another. I live in Ky on a farm. Lots of work to do. I also am a police dispatcher which keeps me rooted to my chair for an entire shift some nights. Working midnights is my real problem, but I have done this for 19 years. I have one year to go before I can retire and am thankful for that so I am just going to keep on working toward the goal of losing the 100 pounds I need to and I pray I can get it off by the time that I retire. I am trying to get my house in order. Wish I could have stuck with it years ago, however I can't change my past but the Lord says that I have this day and this day I choose to do all I can to get the diabetes in check, exercise as my diet. I look forward to traveling this journey with all of you. Have a great Tuesday. Boni emoticon

Hi, my name is Sarah. I live in Texas with my husband. I started gaining weight in my mid 20''s after school and when I started my career in "sit at the computer all day" jobs. I recently had weight loss surgery this summer and I'm about 40 lbs from my goal weight. I know this will be tough, but as the book says "I can do all things, thru Christ who strenghens me!"

Hello again everyone! My name is Stephanie, and I'm on a journey to lose 160 pounds. I have a very long road ahead of me, and I would love to make some new friends so we can encourage each other. I was here a couple of months ago, but I've been struggling a lot, so I've been absent from SP for awhile, trying to wrap my head around getting this weight off and making a true commitment. Having so much to lose is pretty overwhelming, but I'm determined to take it one day at a time. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Hi Team. I am so happy to find a Christian Women team on Spark, though honestly I have been an on & off member. I live in CT and have one son who is 13, and a husband. I know that He is the only way that I will be able to get my sugar addiction in control. And so, I'm back. I am trying a new fitness routine, which is mostly strength-training and walking my dog. But I injured my hip a year and a half ago running and have not been able to fully recover from this. This getting older stuff "isn't for wimps."

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
