Hello everyone.
Like many brave souls, I too am going through major transition at this time. On December 24th, I made the decision to stop all prescription medication and began a major detox of my body. In particular, I have stopped 2 powerful muscle relaxants for fibromyalgia that I have been taking for over 15 years. One of them in particular has been difficult to wean off of as it effects the functioning of the brain (grrrrr) So at the moment I am cleansing on a physical, emotional and spiritual level and am exhausted and overwhelmed. And so I cannot think of a better time to return to the practice of gratefulness.

Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity"

Hi All! I was just made aware of this team and am soooo glad to be with you all! I absolutely LOVE life and am so very thankful for the many and varied experiences I have had. I can't wait to be around others who are grateful as well. Each day I try to notice something that I would have otherwise taken for granted and really marvel at how it enhances my life and purpose. Namaste! emoticon

Hi all,

I've gotten into the habit -- most days -- where I count 10 things for which I am especially grateful. At first, I had a hard time, then it was always the same things, and then .. something special happened: 10 was not nearly enough, and these would come readily to mind, as if a window had opened and I could suddenly 'see.' I wonder what window will open now by joining this Team?

Stay tuned -- and thankful, Rocky. ;)

Hello.
I discovered this SparkTeam on Kaligirl's Sparkpage. I've always been encouraged by her attitude.

Also, my internet homepage is gratefulness.org so I know how important ThanksGiving is.

I haven't been good about maintaining a presence on SparkPeople but something keeps bringing me back. I'm thankful others, like Kali, stay here and provide a good example! I hope I can become a better example.

Thanks for being here,
Karen

Hi Everyone;
I just discovered and joined this team tonight. So glad I found it. At the age of 62 I am thankful for each day and approach each day with a sense of gratefulness. Whenever the negative self talk begins I remember that daily goal of gratitude. It is a positive. Looking forward to spending time on the team posts. Thank you for the chance to join.

You are giving thanks in the right way. From your scale, you are losing without even trying. I always hated PMS. Now that I'm over that, I hate the mood swings. Ha, Ha!! Take care and May God Bless and keep you safe. emoticon

Hi, I joined this team because I like "POSITIVE". So many times in my life I've seen, experienced and felt guilty about Negativity. I hurt so many people by being negative. But now
that's all changed. I'm positive and more importantly I WANT to be positive. I smile more,
think more positively and LOVE doing something for others. Everything I have and own means nothing to me if I can't be positive about myself. Everyone in this team, take care and
May God Bless. emoticon

I hope this group is active because I want and need to be a more thankful, positive person, and from reading earlier posts I think this might be a good group for me.

I am happily married for 31 years, with one grown child. My favorite thing is to read just about anything, but I also like to do different kinds of volunteer work in my community. And I love to wash dishes by hand, which I know sounds funny, but it is a quiet time, and I do a lot of peaceful thinking with my hands in the soap suds.

As I grew up I read and studied philosophy quite a bit, so I'm familiar with the concept that the way we think impacts our lives. I just have a hard time implementing what I know intellectually, because I get down in the dumps easily and often. I want to reduce that tendency, which is why I intend to post my gratitude list here, daily if I can.

Hello,
I found you all because several people on this team are also on some of the other teams I'm on. I'm 58, recently retired, married forever with two grown sons. I like to think I am a grateful person, but I also know there are times when I could most certainly be better at it.
I look forward to getting to know you!

Hi there! I belonged to this team some time ago under the moniker "KATATWELL," and now I'm back with a new name and new determination to succeed. I'm so glad I was able to find this community again! I hope you're all having a great Tuesday so far. Take care.

Hello all! Found this team on one of my SparkFriend's (KALIGIRL) pages and decided to check it out...glad I did! I have been on SparkPeople since January, joining at the suggestion of the bariatric doc who helped me lose 60 pounds through the Optifast program in 2009. I had a rough 2010 and gained 25 pounds back. :-( I am here to get back on track and learn to maintain, and a big part of that is working on my emotional and spiritual sides. To that end I am practicing yoga (again), starting a meditation practice, and journaling. Depression and anxiety have been issues for much of my life (along with some other health issues) and developing an "attitude of grattitude" is part of my path to emotional health.

Other stuff about me: I am a native of AZ, currently living in Phoenix. I do data management for a medical products manufacturer. I have been married to my best friend for 17 years. We do not have kids of our own but we dote on our 4-year-old niece, whom we have helped raise. I am pagan (something I only came to realize a few years ago, solitary with thelemic/wiccan leanings), a music enthusiast (from heavy metal to classical and all points between) a yoga lover, a writer, a reader, a cook, and a bit of a computer geek.

And today I am greatful for SparkPeople!

I am a poz-music songwriter with 9 CDs and WAY too much body. I was able to lose 73 pounds on my own and I was doing really well keeping it off till I fell in Feb. 2010. All of last year was a challenge trying to get my body back on track. It is not there yet. My high weight was 263 and I am back up to 235 and very unhappy about it. BUT -- I am grateful that I make good choices every day, that I walk every day and have a walking buddy 3 days a week, that I know the difference between what's healthy for my particular body and what is not, that I like to drink water and eat chicken and veggies and oatmeal, and that I have a supportive place like this in which to vent. I need to get back to where I was and then keep going, because I need more comfort, flexibility and energy to keep up with my BRAIN and the music that pours out of me, and I need to be able to spread it around! I'm grateful to SMASHY for leading me to this team, and I'm grateful for the Spark in general.

I was blessed with a mom who taught me to love nature and see beauty in everything. We were very poor and moved a lot, so I grew up being thankful for things that most children take for granted - for having a roof over our head and a bed to sleep in and a heater. As an adult, though, I got busy and forgot to pause and give thanks. When was it that Oprah first began to talk about gratitude journals? Was it after Princess Diana died? I remember Oprah saying that was a turning point for her, a point where she decided to really use her public platform more to help people. Anyway, I began a daily gratitude practice then, but was always sporadic about it and at some point over the years just let the practice slip away. Now I'm going through a rough patch and it is a good time to begin again this simple practice of spending a few minutes every day looking around and being thankful for all that I have and all that I am and all that I can be. We must be good stewards of what we have been given - our things, our bodies, our time. Making the most of what we have turns it into more.

hello thankful friends!
My name is Nicole, and I try to be thankful for something every day. I try to stay mindful of my blessings and learn from my challenges (preferably while I'm in the midst of them). I'm happy to be part of a team where thankfulness is the focus.

Hi Team! I'm actually one of the regulars...due to personal reasons - being harassed by an EX who's been googling me and sending my harassing email when he finds me (I'm easy to easy to find for those who know me by my real name, since it's kind of unusual). Anyways I deleted my previous account ABQUEST (you can find me under that Sparkname in the beginning of the December thread - if you can't figure out who I am ) Anyways, my new account is KEEPGOING_REESA and I'm signing my name as REESA although it's not spelled that way, that's how it's pronounced... I also wanted and needed a fresh start, and I wanted to start from Stage 1 also reading the SPARK, which has been shelved since I bought it..it's great! Wishing all a Happy Holiday Season and may your Holidays SPARKLE!!! Keep up the Spark!

Ready (AGAIN) to commit to an exercise program daily, eating healthier and eating less to lose weight. I have bounced back and forth with these past 10 pounds for years. A lot of emotions have held me back, and being 51 doesn't help matters. Just needing to stay the course! Married with two grown children and a grandson...love being connected with people to motivate!!!

One day at a time and one decision at a time =
losing one pound at a time!

Hi there. I was just saying yesterday that I wanted to do something around the theme of "gratitude" for November and December. Today I searched the Spark teams and I came across this one and a few others.

I'm married, have a preschool aged daughter, and work full-time. I've been on Spark for about 2 months.

I, too, am thankful to have found a site where people have decided to look for the blessings in their lives and to be thankful for all the good that is there. I tend to be pessimistic by nature, so I am grateful for the opportunity to look around me and see all the wonderful things I have overlooked in the past. Today I will be grateful.

I also joined at VALERIEMAHA'S suggestion / subterfuge. I am glad to join this site because I have a lot to learn in this area.

I feel I have taken cranky, negative, dark and dreary to an art form in the last 30 years and so I feel ready to see how the other half lives. Coming to the spark site has really been making a difference in me, and I am much more thankful these days.

So I hope practice makes me a lot better! Also even while in very dark places I always like Thanksgiving as a Holiday, and am glad now to live it much, much more often!

Hello! I joined this team because I can get so wound up in things that I don't like that it overtakes my life. Makes me really cranky. I really want to learn to appreciate all the other things in my life that I do like and do have. And I need to be surrounded by positive, encouraging people to do that.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you and putting my own dramas aside.

Best,

Hi! I'm a married 49 year old lady with no children. My husband is on disability after a head injury. We have 2 cats and 1 rabbit. Soon we will be gettting another rabbit from the SPCA to help keep our other bunny company. I'm here to fill up on gratitude and serenity! Overeating gives me a tummy ache and under eating makes me cranky!

Hello!

As part of my new year musings, I was looking for a way to practice joy and gratitude and stumbled across this group - how perfect!

I'm so excited to join such a warm, positive group.

I'm married with one daughter (a very active toddler). I reached a healthy weight with the help of this site and the wonderful people on it - now I need to focus on getting in better nutrients, increasing my strength, achieving serenity, and learning to enjoy healthy habits - and finally getting it through my head that taking care of my health helps me take care of my family.

Best wishes to everyone for a joyful, healthy new year!

Hello everyone - Dragonfly told me about this group, so I took some time to read some of the messages and it seems to be a pretty positive group.

My name is Mary Jo - MJ is what I go by. Married for 9 years this time around. I have 2 children, son 26 and a daughter 25 who will be having her first son in April. I am so excited to be a grandma.

I am 51 and have battled my weight all of my life, but got really serious last year, when my baby sister at the age of 42 passed away. It's been hard work, but harder still to keep it off. I've always looked at the brighter side of things, and believe there is a reason for everything that happens. She watches every step I take and is my daily light.

I am excited to be here and hope that everyone has a Marvelous Monday.

MJ

It takes teamwork to make the dreamwork.

Hi! My name is Mcgee. I am glad to have stumbled upon this group. I have always been a pretty thankful person. I am thankful to have been a stay at home Mom for my two children, for the health of my family. for my critters, my dogs and cat, for this beautiful world, nature, my friends, my talents, for having traveled when I was younger, for vacations, for my dishwasher, for laughter (as it is my favorite pastime!), for my marraige even though it hasn't always been easy the past 31 years!!!for my job and that my children are gainfully employed, for my Mother, and my siblings. Also for Spark and Facebook. I am looking forward to being a member of this great group of thankful people and for getting to know you. I love positive people. :-)

Lord, I love thee
For the music of the waters, For the wild wind's melody, For the arch of heaven's splendor, For the secrets of the sea. For the wonders of the night-time, For the glory of the day, For the blessed joy of living, Lord I love thee. For the pearly flush of rose leaves, For the flower scented air, For the trembling hush of dawning, For all the beauty of everywhere, For the joy of friendly faces, For the graces of each day, For the hope of winning heaven, Lord I love thee.

Hi there. I'll soon be turning 41 and am at a crossroads in my life. My best friend and my heart passed away a year ago this month. He became ill several years ago which led to kidney failure and an ever increasing list of complications. As he became less able to remain in contact with the outside world, I too delved deeper into isolation. When he died, I felt like I died too. I'm just starting to grieve, having spent a year going through the motions of going to work and coming home to my three ever faithful dogs and two funny and loving kitties. I'm ready to come back into community, take care of myself physically, spiritually and emotionally, and have found a great comfort in SP. Thank you Kathy (ATRANS) for inviting me to this team. I look forward to sharing my gratitude and gaining strength and peace from the wisdom and positive energy shared here by all. Blessings. emoticon

Hi e1!

I already know a number of folks on this team, and when Kathy heard today that I'd been hemming and hawing over whether I wanted to join or not she MADE ME PROMISE ! I'd be signed up by the time she got back here ... so here I am, and heaven help you all because I can be quite goofy, but for the sake of the tone of this team, I will try to behave my 59/60 yr-old going on 5 self.

Right now I'm on an especially productive streak, which has me spending very little time online with all my SP friends, but am really feeling good about everything I'm accomplishing, and the tremendous boost in my activity levels it's having. The rest is all on my page & blogs I've left up.

So I guess I should go post my first gratitude and go to bed! emoticon

I have been a way for several months working on a manuscript for my MFA program. I graduate in July. Finally work is in the editing only process. I am finished teaching and writing critical papers. My manuscript is a hybrid—a blending of memoir, creative non-fiction and poetry. It seems to be mirroring my spiritual life.

I am coming back with a new name—I used to be Mahita Devi. I recognize some of the names from when I was here before. It’s nice to reconnect with like-minded people.

Lots of changes. I am still unwrapping layers to get at my core. I have studied many spiritual practices. I have followed a Yogic path for many years. I was first introduced to Yoga at the Kripalu Yoga Center. I have continued to study Yogic philosophy and view Yoga as a lifestyle. I am a Bhakti. I am also a professional tarot reader.

ACTIVITES:
Wandering around farmer’s markets-bookstores-art galleries-basements-attics-diaries-beaches
-second hand stores-shoe stores-gardens-coffee shops-cobblestone alleys-backyards-Mac stores-wine cellars-Thai restaurants-airports-perimeters-yoga mats-ashrams-graveyards.

INTERESTS:
My family—the ebb and flow of relationships—The complexities of being married --of being a mother—of being a grandmother—coming to terms with my age and energy level—learning about time—learning that where I put my energy matters—choosing that which sustains and satisfies.
Collage—assemblage art—finding objects that appear to have nothing in common and discovering that they do.

Hi All, just joined the team, though I've been with SP about seven months now. I've been lurking occasionally on your daily gratitudes. I visit them when I need inspiration, but today I decided to actually join the team and engage.

Greetings, Ment2be, Evelyna6, and especially to all new people:

Today my gratitudes are:

* That I have friends and family I can call upon.
* That my kitty is still hanging in there, even though she is having a bit of a set-back healing-wise.
* That a handsome man asked me out on Saturday. I'm still sort of amazed.
* That I am healthy.

Namaste.
Kathleen
